When I lived there you had to have Hawaiian blood to go there. It was a school set up by the last Hawaiian queen to impart knowledge to the natives. It was big and excellent and expensive as hell, a real elitist school. What did it do, fold and start taking gubmint funds, so it had to allow everyone to enter there?

The school was originally for the children of white missionaries, set up on land endowed by the queen. But eventually, it became a school where Hawaiian blood was given preference in admissions. And yeah, I thought of it too.

The schools' controversial admissions policy gives preference to Native Hawaiians as Pauahi intended, and has effectively excluded all but two non-Hawaiians from attending since 1965.
