Posts: 3461 11/04/05 07:03 PM Registered user Reply Quote More Recent Posts	did I hear correctly last ep? did Gary actually make some statement that getting rid of Brandon would be 'immoral' in some way, just because Jamie's too stupid to keep his mouth shut & is acting like the cocky jock in high school? where was all this morality when voting out Brian & Amy? At least with Brian he was avoiding a tie, but with Amy, there would have been no way that BJ, Brandon, & Danni would not have understood that he was going to throw a vote at BJ just as a nod to Amy :: everyone would have known it wouldn't make a dif in the outcome, and gee, i dunno, he would have looked a whole lot less like a jackass (IMO)

But Rafe and Cindy were clearly wavering with their emotions, and Gary was trying to guilt them into voting Jamie because it was the "right" thing to do. It's hypocritical, but it's certainly not the first time someone's been two-faced on Survivor, and it was a pretty good card to play.

He sees the group his old Yaxha buddies in as evil, less deserving of being there. Gary's got to realize that in order to win survivor you have to do some do some things that you'll regret personally but will get you farther in the game. I think Gary's sudden concern about morality is because of how new Yaxha was like, becoming a big loving family. Then he comes over to new Nakum that Rafe called the 'axis of evil' with people who aren't religious like him, are seen as jerks to some like him, and more people who would make decent F2 opponents for an easy win (that will now be kept around for a while). I think Gary could have taken control of New Nakum if he hadn't stuck with his old tribe (seeing as him and Stephenie shared leadership on Yaxha).

If enough people of a common morality band together (any defined "morality" will do) they can determine the morality of the game. We've never seen a Survivor where there was a big enough voting block of people wanting to keep the "most deserving" and boot the "least deserving". In S1 that was the big debate, but the Pagong-love-tribers were too anti-establishment to even band together in their hatred of the evil alliance-morality. They passed up several opportunities where they had the numbers. The word "morality" in Survivor always hits a nerve around here. It seems to be a raw nerve, and it's one I'm always intrigued by. Gary's damned by this crowd if he plays a clean "moral" game with no lying cheating, etc, because he's a religous nut job and he's damned if he desires to but lies in the process. But what if he has no morality in his world view and doesn't bring anything like that into the game and doesn't care about others? Nobody here would blink an eye. When it comes to morality, I'll prefer someone who sets a moral standard that they strive for even if they fail (despite the liklihood that by doing so are labeled "hypocrites") than someone who doesn't bother setting a bar to strive for because it's not attainable. I'm striving for things in life. If I had the opportunity to play survivor with 6 other people who shared my common goal or 6 who didn't, I'd choose the 6 who did. It would probably be more worth it to me to be starving for 2 weeks with people I got along with than 2 weeks with people who were diametrically opposed to my world view. Just thinkin out loud...

He has used this card before when it was between Blake and Brian in epi. 5. (To Danni) Gary: I can't in my heart not vote for Blake. It worked the first time, and they got Blake booted (and the price to pay was Brian, who was outside of Gary and Amy's alliance). He tried it again, but it failed. I still think Gary is one of the better players this season and he knows what he is doing.
