The current theory is that the events occuring back in civilization are being presented roughly in reverse order
chronologically.
Sayid and Ben:
• Oct 21 2005: Ben visits Iraq and tells Sayid that Widmore's man killed Nadia (whom Sayid had found and married). Definitely occurs after Sun's baby is born.
• Sayid working for Ben killing people - ongoing from Oct 2005 to ?
The rest:
• Michael and Walt make it to Manhattan, Michael ends up working for Ben on the freighter (this occured in current time not a flash forward).
• Rescue
• Sun has baby (July/Aug 2005). Hurley and Sun visit Jin's grave.
• Kate's trial, Jack testifies on her behalf
• Hurley returns to the asylum and is visited by Jack and Mr Abaddon (this could also have occurred before Kate's trial)
• Jack and Kate start living together and raising Aaron. Jack visits Hurley who gives him a message from dead Charlie that Jack should not be raising Aaron. Jack sees his dad a couple of times and immediately turns to drugs and booze. Kate has been sneaking around doing favours for Sawyer.
• Jack grows a beard and abuses substances. (April 2007? Depends on newspaper prop which might not be accurate)
• Jack and Kate meet at night with their cars, Jack tells Kate they should go back. (Why did they need to meet in secret?)
