The two best songs on Taylor's 19Evil CD were the two he had done before on his second independent CD, Under the Radar. The remakes are better produced than the originals, but that tells you all you need to know about the songwriting geniuses working for Nigel. If Chris Daughtry had won, he'd have been under the same bosses, probably with the same unimpressive results. Taylor came into the studio with at least four good songs (Under the Radar has two other good ones not reused, and I haven't heard his first CD), but nobody cared--their main concern was royalties. They probably let him do those two just to shut him up. These people have as little regard for the singers as the rock producers and writers of the 50s and early 60s did (the movie That Thing You Do! is a good retelling of it). Bo Bice had a lot of the same problems. Jordin has no pretensions of being a songwriter or having a fixed style, so they probably like her more even though her CD has sold even less than Taylor's so far.
