Desmond is both a Constant and a Wonderwall.

Magnetic fields transmit from on pole to the other, as I remember, so maybe depending what magnetic field you travel in and whether you go with or against the field current that is generated, you can travel back and forth through time. Maybe? |

but michale and walt definitely headed off at 125° (SSE)I don't know what they definitely did, but Ben told them to leave on a heading of 325 degrees. |

Because 325 degrees is a lot closer to NNW (330, or 337.50 to be precise) than 305 degrees (which is more West than North). And 125 degrees is closer to ESE (112.50) or South-East (SE, 135) than it is to SSE (157.50). Jes' sayin'.

GodIsAnAtheist wrote: actually...Darlton has done a podcast for The Constant...and I listened to it the night before seeing the show. Somehow it got leaked out. The *spoiler* then was...that Desmond was going to be timetraveling via his consiouness only. I knew while watching the show that 1996 desmond was going to be in 2004 Desmonds body. It helpded me alot<g>. Also...in this podcast...they assure people there's no paradox happening. That Mrs Hawking laid out the ground rules quite well in Flashes. The universe course corrects if you attempt to change anything. You cannot go back in the past and change the future. |

GIAA, there have been two podcasts with Darlton. They had one today and one two weeks ago. It's nice to have them back. They said the next one will
probably be in two weeks. You can take back your curse. All is well.

but michale and walt definitely headed off at 125° (SSE) no, that was just my mis-remembering of the heading. (thank you pussycow for getting it right. *at least i got the x25° part right*, do not read anything into my post. i was just sleepy and confused, and so sorry si.) but still, if you head off on a 40 mile trip at 305° as the helicopter did, compared to a 325° course that michael and walt did... you wind up in very different places. i don't know what this means. more numbers. in the end nothing, i guess. the helicopter did find the ship. but i did love the pussycow john 3:05 remembrance as compelling. first because of the "what could this mean?" factor. but second because of the "how the fuck can you possibly remember this shit? because i can't" factor. the second being more compelling in my mind at the moment... |

If Desmond wasn't exposed to radiation (that we have seen) before shipwrecking on the island. Did he only have flashes, whether forward or backward,
after arriving at the island?

Maybe Daniel forgot about the journal entry (and the cards the week before) because he spent all that time at University doing those experiments and didn't
protect his head. (As Desmond pointed out.)

Yeah, I went to the LOST website and saw that there actually WERE podcasts being made already, haha. I should have checked before cursing them.
BTW, I don't mind getting in a shameless plug, if anyone wants to start a Podcast Discussion thread, where we can take the information gleaned from each week's podcast (probably will require someone willing to transcribe the podcast and/or find someone who did it already) in a focused thread (though I'm sure the information will eventually make it's way out amongst the board eventually), I will be more than happy to Index it. |

I always considered starting a podcast thread, but for all the crazy ones all over the internet. I enjoy Jay and Jack, sometimes the Generally Speaking
Podcast. There's a couple of others. Usually I put them on at bedtime and fall asleep to them.

since they wrote it, it's more or less the gospel, so it gives us more to talk about versus just some random people talking about it.

Dear LORD. I think I have figured out so much... and practically the bulk of LOST since the last episode. We have wondered for 3 years now how all of these
people on 815 (and even others on the island) are connected. The writers have pretty much given us a logical reason as to why with the time warp and Desmond
and Faraday's "constants". Everyone on 815 knew SOMEONE else (knowingly or unknowingly) before the crash. They all have a "constant"
on that island. Whether it is Jack's father and Desmond for him... Sawyer's "Sawyer" and Locke's father for him. They all are entangled
and woven together in a mass "constant".
My belief and what makes the most sense. The plane was supposed to go down. They were the "rats in the maze" and having dealt with Dharma before... Ben's warnings have all led up to the reason WHY they all should have been warned. NOTHING is what it seems... and with "todays' reality not necessarily being tomorrow's reality" we know why. Perhaps the premise of LOST is... what happens when humans are "The rats in a maze". And Aaron... perhaps he IS the chosen on... to help connect the two "realities" and ultimately bring stability to the "maze" or "island". Something to think about and ponder. ETA: I could list on and on other things that have happened on LOST and how they connect to the "constant".... but I'll just drop this idea off. The polar bears that seem SO out of place on a tropical island. Polar bears were experimented with by Dharma... and they are "LOST" in this time warp. The severity of the "side effects" affect everyone differently. Even polar bears. What IF this explains how Locke's father had no idea how he showed up on the island. He was "driving" I believe and "blacked out" and suddenly was on the island.

AFK's theory | ||
|
Interesting thoughts - AFK - I think the constant idea is plausible - But I thik it's more plausible that the connections to other survivors on the island
are just a matter of the 7 degrees of seperation - And since the creaters of lost tried to make a show by the same name... I think it may be on their
mind...Also - The only people who seem to travel in time and have side effects are those already going to or trying to leave the island (and got stuck in that
storm thing - the verge between the island and the rest of the world) - So Lockes dad - I dont think - could have "traveled" to the isalnd unless
he'd been there before -- Although I LOVED your idea - Do you think theres a way your theory could work with the fact that only island people (or those
trying to get on / off like Minkowski or Desmond) were the only ones to travel? (and the rat - of course) - I'm trying to make all of this make sense...
Silly me - It's LOST...

They have stated that there are no paradoxes. and if you go back and watch Flashes they say it too.
So Fairiday and Desmond met in 1996, and they both should have remembered it. But for some reason didn't |

They didn't remember because it hadn't happened yet.
Makes perfect sense to me: Their 1996 meeting couldn't happen until they reached December 24, 2004, at which time Desmond could return to 1996 and meet Faraday. That may be totally absurd, but it's what I was thinking as I was watching the episode. |

terpsy wrote: he seemed to have his first flash right after turning the failsafe key and being exposed to huge magneticism. Locke, Eko and Charlie were the closest with
the rest of the 815 survivors not far off at the beach camp. Only Jack, Kate, Hurley and Sawyer, (abducted by The Others)
Sayid, Sun and Jin (attempting an ambush with Desmond's boat) were away from the camp at the time. Michael and Walt at that time were
taking off from the island in the baot given to them by Ben. That is four, known for certain, Oceanic Six survivors. The failsafe key and the sky turning
purple could end up playing a role in who can and can't get off the Island safely. Baby Aaron was given some sort of innoculation. That possibly made it
safe for him to leave.
