So it seems that the Oceanic Six are the Losties who are known, at least publicly, to have survived the crash and made it off the island. We know that the group includes Jack and Hurley. I do not believe that Kate is part of it because (aside from the fact that I am still not convinced that the Kate we saw in "Through the Looking Glass" was not Jack's drug induced hallucination) they are apparently media celebrities, which is something that Kate, as a fugitive, would not want. I would bet that she would be living under an assumed name and that Kate Austen is legally dead. So who else is part of the Oceanic Six? The person in the coffin is a strong possibility, if he or she was a survivor and not Ben or something. I also think Claire, and maybe Aaron, is another one. Jack and Claire have to find out sooner or later they're half siblings, and Jack's jovial mood when he talked to Hurley at Santa Rosa does not suggest that his sister and nephew are dead or still stuck on the island. Opinions? Theories? Confirmed Members: Jack Kate Hurley Sayid Sun Aaron The Lost: Locke Sawyer Jin Claire Rose Bernard Other Survivors: (as of "Meet Kevin Johnson") (just leaving this here for posterity) Claire- Pro: Desmond had a flash of Claire AND Aaron getting into a helicopter and leaving the island. She is keen to leave to raise Aaron in a safe environment. If she and Jack discover they are half-sibs, Jack will want her to go home. Con: Aaron has now been seen off the island (looks to be around 2-3 years old), under Kate's care and believing Kate to be his mother, with no mention of where Claire is. Kate's statement to Jack "I know why you don't want to see the baby" suggests not only that Jack knows Aaron is his nephew, and that something horrible happened to Claire (ie: she is dead or still on the island, etc.) Aaron has been confirmed to be part of the O6. Locke- Pro: Possibly could be taken off the island forcibly. Many believe he was the person in the coffin. Plus, the irony of Locke having to leave his precious behind would be a great arc. Con: More than anybody else, he does not want to leave the island. He has done a lot to ensure nobody leaves. Sun and Jin: Sun has been confirmed to be part of the Oceanic Six. Jin "officially" died on September 22, 2004. Sawyer- Pro: Kate leaving may convince him to. He is believed to be the "he" Kate refers to in "Through the Looking Glass." Con: He doesn't want to leave because he has nothing to live for back home. Kate- Confirmed to be part of the O6. Desmond, Ben, Juliet, Rousseau, etc.- No, they were not on Oceanic 815, thusly are not part on the O6. Ben has now been seen to be alive in the future, but irregardless, there doesn't seem to be any reason why he would be part of the group. It's simply not feasible for he or Juliet or anyone else to claim they were on the plane. The manifest prevents making up a name, and if they were to use the name of a dead person, they would get caught in the lie rather quickly. Last Edited By: Bad Boyfriend 03/22/08 6:11 PM. I think if they all agreed to keep quiet about the rest of the Losties then they cetainly would keep quiet about who Kate really is too. I think Sawyer is one of the six and Clair and Aaron are probably included in that too.

Certainly worth discussing outside of the official episodes discussions. I think Kate is one of the O6. I mean, yeah, she is an outlaw, etc. etc., but I seriously doubt that she is concerned about getting locked back up versus having to stay on the island. She wants to get off the island, has never sabatoged any opportunities to get off, and she seems relatively fine in the future. I hate to envision Charlie's death being for nothing, so I'm gonna say that Claire and Aaron comprise at least ONE SPOT on the O6. If you want to consider Aaron as a separate number of the 6, then that's fair. So, according to what we know mixed with what I think at this point, the O6 is: Jack Hurley Kate Claire/Aaron So, if Aaron is considered one of the O6, then obviously a "couple" can't get off the island. Hence, one of Sun/Jin or Rose/Bernard would have to stay on the island so the other could be rescued. I don't see Rose leaving the island, and so Bernard has no reason to leave, therefore they can't be on. Sun has reason to leave the island, but I don't know if she would allow Jin to stay behind her (unless there was some scenario under which Sun was duped to believe Jin was "right behind"), so I'm inclined to say that the two of them do not leave. Sayid could get off the island, but I really don't know where he stands at the moment, either. I can't make an argument either way at this point. Sawyer has indicated that he's going to stay on the island, so I'm not sure that he gets off. However, we are, for the moment, being led to believe that "him" that Kate was referring to in the S3 finale was Sawyer, so until a better theory arrives or we are proven wrong, I will just throw Sawyer in the 6 as well. Desmond, Ben, Juliet, etc. can't be considered seeing as they weren't on Oceanic 815 to begin with. I hesitate to include Michael in the group until we see him return and find out WTF is up with that.

I'm sticking with Kate not being part of it. Not only because she is a fugitive but because it adds that little bit of surprise since they already told us she gets off the island. That way there is a little more mystery as to who comprises the 6. I imagine when we get the first Kate FF episode the big reveal will be that she is not one of them, opening up another spot in the 6 to fill. Sawyer is really up in the air for me. Now that the real Sawyer is dead it is hard to say where exactly his story is headed. He is at a point where his character could be killed or written out because his arc is complete. I guess this actually leads me in the direction of him leaving the island because he needs something new to be infused in his character. Jack Hurley Claire(+Aaron...I don't think Aaron should count as he wasn't technically a passenger on the plane and children generally are not counted when it comes to things like this. Also because of Desmonds flash) Sun(So she doesn't die from the pregnancy Jin Sawyer(his character needs something) or Sayid(He's desperate to find Nadia)

I'm also guessing Kate and I think she has gone back to living her life. I can't imagine that she'd go back to a life of hiding-- shouldn't the island bring about some sort of change in her life? I also think Sun and Jin will be part of the six. They've got a reason to go and I think that the other main characters-- Sayid, Sawyer, Locke especially-- are too skeptical to be in the six. Finally, I'd include Claire in the six because of Desmond's vision. As for Aaron, he wasn't on the plane so he really wouldn't be one of the Oceanic Six, would he? So my guess: Jack, Kate, Hurley, Sun, Jin, and Claire (Aaron). ETA: Do you think Juliet can get off the island and still have things make sense? Desmond can say that he crashed onto the island, but Juliet-- how will she explain that she left for a job and somehow ended up on the island all by herself? And something tells me her being stranded on the island plus the legal implications involved (re: the lawyer who came to see Hurley) might make her criminal past null and void. As for who could be the other three, I'm at a loss. It could be anyone for all we know, and the writers (before the strike) could have planned to throw us off. I'm guessing Claire stays, to be closer to Charlie's body (physically speaking), but sends Aaron back home.

As a matter of fact, he is the ONE who is supposed to be "protected" by the 6. Claire is simply the one who delivers Aaron. Aaron is precisely the one reason the Oceanic 6 will need to return to the island. Jin and Claire will not make it to the end of the series. Locke apparently will not either. Actually, the ones who will make it are the 6 plus Aaron. Only two individuals were born on the island: Ben and Aaron. Ben was believed to be the "chosen" one but fell from grace (like Lucifer). Aaron truly is the "chosen one" born to bring peace to the world. Do we know anything about Aaron's father? His "REAL" father?

His "REAL" father? Ben was NOT born on the island. He was born in the forest outside of Portland. You could say he was re-born on the island I suppose. Jin and Claire will not make it to the end of the series. Locke apparently will not either. Actually, the ones who will make it are the 6 plus Aaron. So you are working on the assumption that everyone but the 6(+ Aaron) are dead? I really don't see that happening. I could see Jin dying.....maybe Claire(but I highly doubt that. The baby MUST be raised by her.) I really don't see Locke dying though.

People like Desmond, Juliet, Ben or any other non crash victim could be 'rescued' but wouldn't be part of the O6. Oh also I just realized the other day that there are also 6 numbers :: ooohhhh ::

Big Mike (the cop) appears to be under the assumption that Ana Lucia died in the crash, so it's likely all the murders and accidental deaths that occurred on the island are unknown to the public. If Michael were part of the O6, sooner or later somebody would find out what he did.

My take on the O6 was that these 6 people were the ones who choose to leave while the others stayed on the island. The 'lawyer' who visited Hurley asked something like "are they alive" - to me, this hinted that some stayed behind and didn't want anyone to know leaving the O6 to protecting them.

If it is I agree with Kate having Aaron. But I also don't think she would be part of the O6. Maybe the O6 is just six survivors coming foward very soon after they get to safe ground. That way it would be possible to have more than 6 make it.

I was thinking that while it would seem that Hurley was referring to a group of people that are publicly known as survivors of Flight 815, perhaps the "six" is really a larger reference to characters whose lives and backstories seem to be fundamental elements of the LOST mythos (specifically Jack, Locke, Hurley, Desmond, Ben and perhaps Walt). I am aware that Desmond and Ben weren't on Flight 815.

The rescue of Desmond, Juliet and other Others would be explained by why the rescue boat was looking for the island in the first place. Naomi never gave the impression she was looking for Oceanic 815 survivors. It was believed by the Losties that she was hired by Penny to find Desmond. Charlie proved that theory to be wrong. So, the question is WHY are they looking for the island?

It's difficult to imagine how the famous Oceanic 6 will explain their survival.

I would like to be able to discuss who the Oceanic 6 might be WITHOUT accidentally being spoiled as to who any of the unrevealed Oceanic 6 actually are. In fact, I'd appreciate it if somebody edited that post there before somebody does do something stupid like respond to it... Now with that said...Aaron could be one, but I get the feeling the Oceanic 6 would mean 6 passengers on the plane, and whether Aaron would be considered a passenger is quite debateable. I personally think the media wouldn't consider the baby one, and instead would give the baby some special name like "The Lucky Child." But that's just my speculation. I have come to believe, though, that Claire makes it off. She was seen by Desmond getting in a helicopter with Aaron...and I just can't imagine them having the helicopter crash or something, causing the baby to die. That would be so cruel and would upset some viewers a lot. Either Claire stays on the island or does not, and because of that vision, I think it means Claire makes it off. Kate isn't one because of the fugitive thing, as mentioned in the first post. Sayid probably is one because of the Nadia stuff...Sun too because of the pregnancy. That leaves a spot for 1 more. The last one could be Aaron. It could be Sawyer, but that would be so cliche that I specifically think it won't be. It could be Michael, assuming he makes it back to the island with Walt, and that seems kind of likely to me somehow. Michael and Walt return because Walt belongs on the island, and after a lot of internal debate, Michael chooses to leave Walt. I do not, however, think Michael is the one in the coffin that we saw in Through the Looking Glass. Michael would be in New York, not Los Angeles...so he wouldn't have a funeral in Los Angeles. My guess is that was Ben, who was forced off the island and then became totally ruined by the Dharma Initiative somehow.
