This show airs every night (excluding the weekends), and each night, centers on a therapist and a different patient. Tonight (Monday, the 28th) was Laura, and she will be the patient every Monday. On Friday's, the actual therapist (Gabriel Byrne) visits his own therapist. The writing and actings were pretty incredible in the first episode, and I am already hooked on Monday's story. Anyone else?

Maybe I'll download the episodes at the end of each week or wait for the end of the season and watch them all at once. But does HBO really think people are going to tune in 5 nights a week for this? Really? It seems like a very risky programming move.

Well, people have many options. - HBO OnDemand will have the episodes for the whole week each and every Monday. - The show will repeat a couple of times a night. - The show will repeat the past week's therapy sessions before the new ones starting next week. - The show will be ready to go each night on HBO.COM with repeat airings. If someone wants to keep up, they absolutely can.

Much easier to catch up on all the episodes at the same time, rather than watching 5 times a week. I guess I'll check it out at the end of the first week.

I agree with you that HBO is making a high demand for the audience to come back, but they are definitely taking action to make it a bit easier to do so. Plus, each night is self-contained, so if you really don't like one session, you never have to watch that story ever again. So, ultimitely, if you are only a fan of the Monday story, you could watch that and that alone. :)

Posts: 474 (01/28/08 10:52 PM) Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	i've read some reviews from screeners and they have been positive. gabriel byrne is the shit and the first ep was a great setup. fucked up folks try to sell their shit to their shrink and the truth and the lies come out. and on fridays, gabriel get to play that game with his own shrink. but i've got to go with probstie on this one. hbo requests i give up everything else i watch during the week in that hour to commit to this each night. hbo requests this. hbo? ha! the best i could give it would be a season-pass tivo at some obscure pre-dawn showing that i would watch in marathons when the reality of the writer's strike gets to be too much. or i could just wait for the dvds to come out if the show makes it. either way it won't help the ratings for hbo. bold move hbo. i salute you. but i'm going to commit to a hbo series ever again? ha! you know what would have been an even bolder move, hbo? a fourth season of deadwood, you fucks. maybe a third season of carnivàle? stop trying to get cute with scheduling and just produce the shows your audience is already loving and watching. you know, the ones you always prematurely cancel, hbo. the one's you regularly fuck your loyal viewers with, hbo. assholes... ahem... that said, i liked it.

It seems like a very risky programming move. People have been watching 1-hour daily soap episodes since the beginning of time (okay, since the beginning of VHS). Sometimes more than one soap each day. I used to do it myself. I stopped because I got sick of the story, not because of the time commitment. I've got this one tivo'd for every night and I imagine I'll watch it daily. I thoroughly enjoyed it. She's super-hot, too, without the accent. I like her much better here than in Alias. Blair Underwood is basically The New Blair Underwood (as seen in DSM), but I like this version of him so it's okay. I can see his story getting better and better. The gymnast's story has something to do with her coach, I betcha.

The gymnast was also good. 3 episodes in and I'm hooked. I am a licensed therapist who does only group work in a daytreatment center for seriously mental ill patients, so I'm vicariously loving the one-on-one therapy this show offers. I'm really looking forward to Friday and seeing the therapist see his own therapist. I can't imagine not watching and following all the stories. Each one is totally fascinating in its own way.

Holy crap - this show is fantastic! 4 of the 5 stories are absolutely riveting... just don't care about the couple that much. I almost blew away the episodes off my DVR before watching them because I thought: No WAY am I gonna like a show where all they do is sit and talk. Man, thank the lord I don't trust myself. Seriously, is anybody else watching this?

And I love Dianne Wiest, so I enjoy the Friday night sessions as well. I'm loving all the stories, although I find the slight accent in the wife half of the couple (I'm bad at the names of the characters) annoying. And I watch this every day, even if not at the time it's first broadcast. I get it at 7:30 because with satellite, I can get the East Coast feed.

I came here thinking there would be more discussion that at the Sweaty Board, but sadly not... ) The acting is phenominal. I started out not liking the couple story, but it just picked up steam. I've worn the horns and been to individual and couple counseling and the whole show is making me very uncomfortable - MY definition of good entertainment. I'm so tempted to look up the script of the Israli show to see how it ends ( Or at least who called Paul! ) , but I have resisted.

Two or three characters talking and yet it's more riveting than so-called "action" shows. kf, I started out not liking the young kid story, but now find that interesting as well. I hope HBO keeps this one up. It's a good solid drama.

That means only two per story ( and you KNOW Laura is coming back in a big way! ) . I don't know if anyone's gonna die in this show, although just about any of the major characters are borderline psychotic or suicidal, but the tension that several big denouements will roll into one is making for a very satisfying experience. To try to build an audience, HNO is offering many of the early shows for free on-demand. I've seen them all on BitTorrent as well.

I thought the concept, in part, was that a viewer could pick any or all the nights to watch. So if you were only interested in the Laura story (Monday), you could simply watch the show on Monday nights. No big commitment there. And although sometimes the episodes are like speed-therapy, there is true psychological sophistication in the writing, and much superb and nuanced acting. I am surprised more people aren't hooked. I'm sad the season's coming to an end.

I'm a therapist and thought the writing was spot on, as were the performances. I was really surprised that no licensed professional was listed as a "consultant". I'll miss this show. I hope HBO repeats it from episode 1. This time, I'll save the recordings. I've got a very large-screen HD TV, so I really don't want to download and watch on my computer.

I downloaded 39 and 40, but don't want to watch them until I'm sure I can't find 38. I'm a HBO subscriber, but they want more $$$ for 'In Demand".

The original air date was 3-19. Hope that helps you find it!
