Obviously, the focus of craig's thread was Edgic which is NOT a Spoiler, so it doesn't belong there. At the same time, to post the topic within the Edgic thread would ruin it's Non-Spoiler integrity.

On this specific thread topic, I have to agree with the Mods. Most people in Edgic are either avoiding Spoilers or they know them. You don't really need to compare Edgic V Spoilers any more than you can compare Spoiler 1 V Spoiler 2. One's right. One's wrong. That's about it. If Edgic is right and the Spoiler wrong, that has more to do with the Spoiler. Vice versa? Well, Edgic is a theory in progress and guaranteed to have flaws so no need to point the obvious out.

Mixing the two is bad because it colors opinions. It's easy to find clues if you know the answers, like the gazillion "Bill is the Mole" clues found after everyone figured it out ep. 3. Only about 1/4 were announced by ABC, but some unnanounced ones were pretty cooincidental.

It's a subtle back-door way to bring in Spoilers to Spec. Spec about contestants we "know" are going soon is treated with rudeness. And people may post what looks like Spec, say an editing clue thread, where the poster was looking for clues because of spoilers and "Specs" what is really a rationalization for the Spoilers.

My resolution to the latter problem is that if you follow the Spoilers AT ALL, you MUST refrain from making predictions in any thread in Spec.
Which gets me to my main, er request for Spoilers. And if you start a thread that has so much as the potential to be inspired by a Spoiler or mentions or is influenced by Spoilers in any way, you have to MARK your thread as such, (*SPOILERS*, or just *S*) just so we know what's Kosher and what isn't.

And another, er request, I think Spec needs to become a more flame-free zone. Most flames are retarded and unproductive. It's SPEC, fer crissakes, everyone KNOWS these are guesses.

When you post a reply to a Spec thread, you need to give the Benefit of the Doubt to the poster that their METHODOLOGY is right (if not their conclusions. Take Edgic, for example. Anyone who posts, "Who cares how much camera time everyone has? That doesn't mean crap!" is just being a BOARD BITCH and deserves DISCIPLINE.

Fortunately, people on that thread understand that. Fair criticism works within the methodology of Edgic: disagreeing about the ratings, trying to refine the ratings, disagreeing that a particular pattern is a "winner's edit."

Likewise, for an Opening Credits or Editing "Spoiler." People who post "The credits don't mean anything. You're a dipshit." contribute nothing to this forum. Saying "but this shot hints to Y instead of X" or "That's not really a monkey" or "Silas had fire over his name three times and HE didn't win" are fair criticisms.

But the action that REALLY needs the most discipline around here is the DELIBERATE INTRUSION of people who follow spoilers who come in here and flame posters who spec something that the Spoilers say is wrong. It's essentially flaming people for not following the spoilers. Tolerating this just defeats the whole purpose of this board.
