Wow! If this week was actually an increase...that'd be be very impressive. If I remember correctly ep. 2 of S16 was a fairly large drop-off (1+ million) |

"SURVIVOR: GABON" WINS THE 8:00 PM TIME PERIOD IN VIEWERS AND ALL KEY DEMOGRAPHICSPosted on 03 October 2008 by Bill Gorman From a CBS press release: On the second Thursday of the new 2008/09 television season, SURVIVOR: GABON placed first in the 8:00-9:00 PM time period in viewers and key demographics, according to preliminary Nielsen live plus same day ratings for Thursday, Oct. 2. Editor's Note: Due to the Vice Presidential Debate, ratings for CBS, NBC, ABC and FOX and time period rankings are tentative and subject to change. SURVIVOR: GABON was first in households (7.7/12), viewers (12.85m), adults 25-54 (5.4/13) and adults 18-49 (4.3/12). |

That's pretty good. An increase in households with about the same amount of actual viewers as the premier episode. Not bad and hopefully the audience will
continue to build its share.

If this trend keeps up, CBS will order seasons 19 and 20 in January.

13.052 for the premiere hour 1.
12.775 for hour 2 of the premiere. Episode "2" netted 12.85. Those are viewers (in millions). As for the demos... Hour 1: 4.5/13 2.8/9 (18-49 / 18-34) ( Bold means it won the hour) Hour 2: 4/5/10 2.6/7 Episode 2: 4.4/12 2.6/8 Very impressive numbers. Episode 2 actually beat Ugly Betty in the 18-34 category which I don't believe has happened in a while. If we keep up these numbers, CBS is going to happily continue Survivor. In fact, I honestly don't believe we ever have to worry about Survivor being canceled. It's going to naturally end, eventually. But only when all parties are ready for it to. This is what...realistically the 9th television season? And it's keeping these numbers? Bravo to all involved for this. |

The second week got more viewers than the first. Barely, but it did. Interesting. |

I know it's by a very very small amount, but this is the first second episode since Marquesas to acheive a higher no. of viewers than the premier of that
season.

I'm hoping and praying that this is the season that does it, that draws in excitement and enthusiasm for the show once again. Seriously, this is a great
cast and despite my misgivings about the HII and EI, they are really less obnoxious and in your face with it this season. China was a false alarm, Gabon will
bring the show back its glory

ratings will never go back up, its been on a steady decline since palau, 3-4 years
a celebrity version may bring it back to 20+ million, and it has to be one of the final seasons(s19 celebrity, s20-"final season") |

I actually think a "celebrity" version would turn off the loyal viewers and just cause an even steeper ratings decline.
