This may not be a brilliant observation, but I would guess that if Amy is next to the immunity idol in that pic, Y. wins immunity first.

Better late than never Okie!
Reward Challenge: ![]() From TV Titan: The 11th season begins with 16 castaways arriving in Guatemala, dividing into two tribes and immediately facing a grueling 11-mile hike through a dense jungle. It's without question the toughest challenge we've done in any capacity, says host Jeff Probst. It set the tone. It let the players know it's not going to be easy this time. Palau was a cakewalk. Guatemala is a nightmare. The oppressive temperatures, which reach up to 120 degrees, bring out a darker side in the contestants, reports Probst. Its sheer endurance, but it forces teamwork. From Survivor Maps: Drop off point is at Nakum, 11 miles North. From Inside TV Magazine: "We knew going in [that] Guatemala would be hard, and we decided to embrace that and not fight it," host Jeff Probst tells Inside TV. But these 16 castaways were up to the task. "When I first told people about the hike, you can see a couple of people have a look on their face like, oh my God," says Jeff. "But the majority of them have a look, 'Right on! Bring it on!" From TV Guide: The tone is set early in the first episode with a brutal challenge: The two tribes, Nakum and Yaxha, are pitted against each other in an 11-mile overnight hike through the poisonous snake-filled jungle. (The winning team gets the better of the two camps and the flint to help create fire.) Even Survivor challenge producer John Kirhoffer, who helped cook up the torturous trek, underestimated the toll it would take. "The hike turned out to be excruciating," he says. "You can test these things [beforehand], but you never really know how hard they're gonna be on somebody who isn't used to it. We have a lot of really fit people, and it just kicked their asses. ![]() True Dork Times noticed the smoke in the back center of this photo from Nakums camp (Jim and Danni are in the foreground, Blake in the background). Therefore, Nakum probably wins the overnight hike challenge as the first group to get to the location. They earn as reward the choice of camps and the flint that they used to create the fire seen here. Other provisions like the corn or beans in the pot were carried by the players on the hike to the location. RC winner: Nakum. Immunity Challenge: ![]() ![]() The first immunity challenge is a combination boat race and boat dragging event. TV Guide showed visuals of the dream team competing (doubles who try out the challenges in advance of the participants). After Jeff says Go! the players race for their canoes and drag them to the water. ![]() ![]() Players row, racing around floating stations, then removing an item to bring back with them to shore. ![]() ![]() Back on shore, they begin to drag their boat using multiple logs to help roll it forward. While an anchor person pulls it with a rope, others pick up the logs and replace them in front of the canoe, allowing it to continue to roll. ![]() ![]() The first team to cross the finish line lights their torch to the cauldron and wins immunity. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() With these photos from the first immunity challenge, Nakum appears to struggle behind Yaxha, who leads by a full boat length. I expect Yaxha to win this competition. IC winner: Yaxha. |
