Ya and by the looks of things the do-over didn't go that well either. She looked heavily made-up, but not particularly gaunt in the face...although I
almost have the impression she had an extra layer of clothes to give a chunky appearance. The reason I say that is she never looked that chunky even on day 1
on China.
It's a bit odd she didn't go for the ES interview. |

Todd gave the perfect jury performance. Didn't deny the lies, gave JR props for being a "strategist", carefully defined his
"gameplay" vs his "feelings" for the other survivors.
Bottom line: Gotta give Todd props. He played a flawless game.

Was Amanda's edit only for the sake of justifying her presence next season?That's all I was able to come up with. That and that maybe they tried to pull a fast one on us. It was just awkward how her story exploded, she even had the most confessionals in the finale. Now that I think about it, it's got to be preparation for next season, I don't see any other reason. Actually, I don't really think they explained why she lost, her FTC performance wasn't emphasized as truly horrible, the whole thing was odd. After some of the stuff they showed Todd saying/doing I was completely surprised at the fact that he win. Amanda was supposed to come off positive, but unless it was for next season, they'd have no reason to not make her into a Becky/Cassandra and portray her more negatively, when they obviously avoided those opportunities. I'll be interested to see how she is edited next time. |

Amanda was tricky, because all of her "negative" scenes came in the final episode. Unlike Becky/Danielle/Katie, who the editors were able to portray
as undeserving or lazy.
Amanda was a positive character who played a great game for most of the season, and then it all fell apart at the end. So for a while she looked like Danni out there, but in the end this jury wasn't as bitter as the Guatemala jury. Amanda wasn't lazy or unlikeable. She just gave a bad jury performance and screwed up in the final episode. So her edit looked like a winner for a while, but definitely not in the finale. And maybe since Courtney's edit was somewhat negative, they needed Amanda's edit to stay positive to balance it out. I don't think it has anything to do with ASS 2.

I don't understand Amanda's jury performance at all.
First of all, she should have argued that she carried Todd and Courtney into the finals! And she could argue that because well if Amanda hadn't won those last two immunities, Pei Gee and Denise would have won them. So right there, she could have argued that Todd's lying didn't bring her into the finals, She brought him to the finals. Amanda should have also argued that she had to keep Todd in check. She should have pointed out Todd's blunders, for example the fact that she had to even for a moment convince Todd and Courtney that Jr should stay, and Sherea should go. She could have mentioned that "she was the cool headed one of that tribe." Amanda should have been straight up with Denise .. |

We already know they left some negative Amanda scenes out - like the cheeseburger challenge. I think she could have won with a better Final TC performance,
but I have no doubt they made her AND James look positive for S16.
After rewatching the Finale I am very convinced they made her look chunky, or at least chunkier than she is. She was never that chunky in China, not even the start. She was covered except her hands and face, and very heavily made up. I don't know if it says anything at all about how she did in S16, just perhaps an attempt to thwart any Spoiling by apperance. It's very possibly why she didn't attend the ES segment yesterday. James looked kind of worn or tired to me, but I couldn't see much body change ....they also had about 10 days after S16 ended even if they made it a ways into the game. |

It appeared that Amanda's confidence was sapped by the little run-in she had with Denise at the second-last tribal council. Suddenly being portrayed by
Denise as fake and mean, having Todd pounce on the opportunity and seeing the jury laugh at her must have shaken her confidence so much she never recovered.
Also, her teary mood following that TC suugested, dare I say it, hormomal difficulties... Life has practical difficulties for a girl...
As for the editing in the last few episodes, there seems to be an established trend that these few episodes are used to inject as much doubt into the winner as possible. Especially in the second-last episode, it is the kiss of death for someone to be favoured by the editing. Think Yau Man, Ozzie, Cerie, Rafe and now Amanda. |

I'm sure if anyone else mention this but JR said he would blame Amanda and Todd if he was voted off. CBS only should the Todd warning (except at the FTC)
so there may have been some misleading. CBS always has Red Herrings and the best ever statements etc. but the editing is the best clues we get. I don't
think there was as many mistakes like showing PG with the IN. James got just as much screen time as Amanda, Denise and Courtney combined. Only Todd had more
screen time.

Remember when Rich sat in the hammock thinking about what kind of questions might be asked and Kelly doing Yoga on the beach?
Other than seeing Chris try and rile up Twila, we never see the final 2/3 actually doing anything to prepare for the final TC. Anyone walking in unprepared is going to get Neleh-ed. Amanda misread the jury. Sometimes the jurors want an apology for not letting them win instead of you and sometimes they want you to own up to how you played the game. Some jurors are bitter, some are open-minded. JP made a comment about the final TC beginning at the final 4 TC. The truth is the final TC starts the minute the game starts. |

Man, I bought the "Amanda will win" thoughts hook, line, and sinker, despite the fact that I thought that it was painfully obvious Todd would win
since day one. But Amanda getting fewer votes than Courtney? A slap in the face for her, I must say, because aside from her jury performance, she was an
excellent player, probably one of the best female players in the post-All Stars era. And, I genuinely do believe, that Amanda WAS the finalist to beat until
that turning point where Denise called her out on making promises she couldn't keep. Not only was Todd effectively able to capitalize on this (perhaps not
intentionally) but also, this set off alarm bells for Peih-Gee and James and Jean-Robert. Amanda was so concerned about wanting to be everyone's friend
that she ended up making the jurors a LOT madder at her than if she'd just straight-up voted against them like Todd and Courtney did. I do genuinely
believe that Jaime and Jean-Robert were votes she had a shot at getting, and if she hadn't explicitly promised (and then reneged) on her plans to save
Denise and Peih-Gee, they'd have been in her corner as well, and she blew ALL of those chances by simpering and pouting and apologizing rather than doing
what Todd did and owned up to playing a game and playing it hard. To be fair, I think that Todd and Amanda were more evenly matched than the vote showed, but
her underwhelming jury performance did her in. And, Courtney, bless her, proved to have done a better job at the social game (I know, seriously,
whowouldathunkit) by not painting herself into a corner by making undeliverable promises. Courtney was consistent (and Todd was consistently weaselly) and
Amanda was inconsistent. I think the key difference was that Todd was a backstabber, Amanda would backstab you while giving you a hug, and Courtney would stab
you face to face.

From PG: (who also mentioned she thinks practically all the cast has lurked here - she is posting in the PG thread in Sucks) Amanda definitely looks like she played a great game. However, she lost because she wasn't quite the mastermind that everyone saw (Todd) and she wasn't quite the alternative for those who were pissed and bitter (Courtney). She just ended up being in between and not defending her gameplay. I don't think she even ever emphasized her challenge wins. Worst. Jury. Performance. Ever. Going into Final tribal, I was deciding between Todd and Amanda. After FTC, I was torn between Todd and Courtney. That's how bad her FTC was =(What we saw was Amanda's death knell; a great player of the game but tanked at the last hour. |

I enjoyed this season. Of course, it was disappointing that the most prominently featured birds were the balut, but other than that, the only negative I have
is making us watch the players going around in their underwear. I felt like we got to know each of the characters, their stories and boots made sense. And of
course the scenery was lovely.
