Where are they now? - Colleen Haskell / Other Pre ASS Alums |
Lead | |
|
So what is this girl up to? I know its been discussed before that she pretty much dissappeared from the limelight. I was just wondering if people know what she
is up to now and why she decided to end her acting career?

Oh Colleen... She's kind of the mythological creature when it comes to Survivors... She's by far one of the most popular the series has had and one of
the most well liked as well. Yet, she has all but disappeared from the face of this Earth. For all we know she could have gone the way of BB.
Your guess is as good as mine. |

She was a producer for this random talk show for a while. I think I read she got married somewhere too.
She's 31 now, which is kind of weird to think about since she's so frozen in time to us. It's like not seeing someone from HS for years until a reunion. WHAT IF SHE'S FAT NOW?! |

Greg is another person I wondered what happened.
He even disappeared for the Early Show Interview. |

Wow thats so weird that she is 31 now. It would be cool if CBS done some type of documentary in 2011, like "Survivor Borneo: 10 years later". They
could go and interview the previous contestants like Colleen and Greg. Ofcourse who is to say Colleen and Greg would even do it.
I am really intersted in what Greg is doing now. The Survivor Borneo contestants went through more than any of the other contestants with all the press and media, so its weird to see them dissappear from the face of the earth. |

Ah, Colleen. She's probably out there living her life, Survivor being one of the last things on her mind...

Like all players should.
Go Colleen! |

She was pretty content using Survivor as a springboard for her "career." She probably got really embarassed after The Animal flopped and
then decided to "move on."

Maybe once in a while, make a surprise appearance or something, but it's like that great Nick Brown quote, "I don't want being on Survivor to
define me" (or something like that). Eh, I guess if they enjoy it, I can't criticize but you'd think there'd be a time when they decide
enough's enough.

Yeah see I've always loved players like Nick. He went on the show, he added it to his life resume, then he moved on and you never heard from him again.
He never turned into a SEG shill. He never turned into a fake reality "celebrity". He just used Survivor for his own personal gains and then went
on with his life. And I say bravo to him.
Note: If you want an update, Nick is a military lawyer now. He finished his ROTC training and graduated from Harvard and last I heard, he was over in Iraq. And I'm guessing that Survivor is probably the last thing on his mind these days. My brother knows Nick because they went to law school together. I wish we had more Survivor alums like Nick Brown. As many people have said, the whole cult of "Survivor alums" and their "celebrity" has gotten a little bit tiresome the last few years. Back in 2001 or 2002, there were only like one or two alumni events a year. Maybe there would be a reunion before a finale show, or maybe there would be an Elisabeth Glacer fundraiser. But these days? Good lord. I swear, people like Lex and Big Tom seem like they're headlining a fundraiser every month. In fact they aren't even Survivor alums anymore. Now they're just professional fundraiser shills. If you want a Survivor to appear at your event, all you have to do is sponsor their "celebrity" appearance fee and they'll show up. Why, nowadays they even have celebrity dodgeball tournaments and Survivor theme cruises! Nowadays, being a celebrity Survivor alumnus is basically a career option. And this is why I've always appreciated alums like Nick Brown, Colleen Haskell, and Greg Buis (among others). Like Nick said, Survivor isn't supposed to define you. Survivor is just something you did for a few months in your life, and then moved on. |

I like Nick Brown too. Sensei, I have to ask, what exactly is so wrong with being a professional Survivor or whatever? Ive never understood what makes reality
tv contestents so much worse then big name actors and actresses and singers whos talent is questionable

I don't really get why it's so bad to go to the events even if it is years after their season. They're charity events, so it's for a good
cause and second of all it's nice that they're trying to keep some semblance of an alumni community alive. I find what Colleen did far more offensive.

I've got to admit I wonder what the big deal with people using being on Survivor to help charity. I mean, look at Ethan. He used his money from Survivor to
start Grassroots Soccer and nobody's giving him and Morasca a hard time about that, and to be quite frank, I don't think they should.

It's always annoyed me because it perpetuates the belief that "reality TV contestant" is a career option. I've always had a problem with
that idea. I've never liked the idea that people like Jonny Fairplay or Adrienne Curry or William Hung exist, who are famous just because they are famous.
I feel like it creates this whole weird cult of "I was on TV-itis" fame that lures lots of young people towards these shows because they think it
could be a career. And you wonder why shows like American Idol draw eight hundred billion viewers per week. It's because this is now the epitome of what
makes a celebrity. You just have to be seen.
I can't explain it any better than that, it just bugs me. Maybe I've just been reading too much US Weekly lately. |

I am going to change the title of this thread to Where are they now? because its more appropriate since we talking about everyone, not just cooleen ;)
But yeah I definatly think CBS should put together a Where are they now special highlighting the casts of seasons whenever Survivor reaches its 10 year anniversary. It would be cool if they would do each season. They could always air it in the summer and I think it would still get decent enough ratings.. It would obviously be fairly cheap to produce. |
