S15 Finale - Immunity Challenge (Endurance?) |
Lead | |
|
Per the challenge board it's called "Offer It Up".

I think these 2 clips are from the Final IC. But how it works, I have to idea. Maybe they have to balance the plates and bowls.

Per the challenge board at least part of the reward is an advantage presumably for the IC. What could be an advantage for this?

It's a scale. Post in center for balancing the bar (don't know the proper term).
Have to stack dishes and keep it balanced? That seems like an odd challenge for endurance.... |

A scale? Hmmmm. They might first have to figure out which objects balance off. Then figure a way to carry them without dropping them. The advantage could be
information as to which objects balance.

Go up a step...holding it balanced....stand for a while....go up another step...rinse repeat.
Could be a fairly short, but tricky, endurance that way. :) |

They're in China, and they have to balance....china! How....odd. I assume they are going to carry the plates/bowls using whatever balancing tool they are
provided up the stairs, hence the "up." And maybe it is some sort of religious/spiritual "offer"ing, mirroring the temple in Ep. 1. So
whoevers "offers up" the most expensive and luxuious china wins.

Do we know where/what this giant Buddha is really?

Where the heck are they at? In the shot of Probst with the china to his right, there are trees in the background. But those steps must mean they're at a
building, presumably another temple. Here is a shot of the temple visit from ep 1:
Those steps are not as high as in the background in Denise's shot. Maybe there is another set of steps leading up to this area? |

I had to watch the last episode on the stupid CBS site, but I think I saw a different preview than the broadcast? There's was nothing about chameleons or
three tribal councils, but there was a quick shot of a giant Buddha at the top of those stairs. It's not the Leshan one, it looks way more recent than
that. I'm pretty sure it's standing (it's a VERY quick shot), so it's not the one in Hong Kong. It seems to have both hands sort of in front of
its body, not one up in the air like the Hong Kong one.

So potentially they get to the top of the steps to symbolically "offer it up" to Buddha? |

Was there a Willow trig in the Buddha's hand? | ||

Was it standing on Lotus?
I usually have trouble viewing anything at CBS site. Could some one please do a cap of that Buddha? Sounds like Guan Yin the female(Kinder, gentler) form of Buddha. Those statues show up every where. I don't know of one before 1949(Mao) around there. It could be build in or after 1980s. ETA: Ha! Thanks, Anywho! It is a Quan Yin. If it's offering, food should be involved. Flower, incense.... I can't see them in there.

That's the one! Interesting for this season that it's a female Buddha... I guess I hadn't realized there were giant Buddhas
"everywhere". Or are most of them not so big? Would there be a big temple to go with it, or is it just out there?
So where is it? Like, did they just take a day trip over from the lake? I am wanting there to be incense involved. It jumped out a little in the last episode that we got to see Amanda starting fire. But those plates look like food plates, would you put incense in something like that? |

Birdlady, I just checked those tourists sites. No giant Guan Yin was mentioned. Could be that it's kind of new. Chinese has a thing of making tourists
attractions out of cement. :)
LuShan the "Holy Mountain" is right around ZL. They share the same water which all go in to YangTze. LuShan, JiuJiang(the city/district ZheLing Hu is in) or even ZL area are loaded with temples or religious attractions. I imagine they won't have to go too far to find one. That one is not so giant either compare to some others. The episode where Erik made sheep sound was in LiJiang I believe. That's right around there, too. |

I believe these were in Guan Dong province. Check out how many cement statues there are in this album. Sorry about the BG color. I don't know what happened. This is the best I could do. The link works.

Did Courtney just get eaten by a slippery little sucker?
I guess we're going to get one of these previews for each person with their little tagline? For some reason I'm way more interested now in these Buddha statues than I am in these four people. We saw Todd and Amanda make an alliance at the very beginning, usually if people set a plan and execute it all the way to the end, I'd be at least a little impressed, but I just don't much care... Anyways, so there's like a cement Buddha factory that ships these things out all over the country as tourist areas open up? Like we have prestressed concrete factories that ship out those big bridge sections? Or is there some portable mold, so that if you're making a dam or road or some big public works project, and you have some cement left over at the end of the work day, you just pour it in the Buddha and when the project is over you have a little shrine? |

And there we go again with the idea of Courtney winning the final IC. I've thought that a possibility since Todd first said "Courtney won't win
anything".
