I have an idea | ||
|
OK, thinking about the two tiered benches and the looks on the peoples faces as they watch Denise do something. What if the first part of the challenge is
that one by one they are instructed to take a "vase" or object of another persons color and put it on the two tiered bench in any position that they
want. Maybe they even have to answer a question first to get the right to do the placing. Maybe Denise is placing one of James front and center in a spot
where it makes his vases very vulnerable. That could be why PG is smiling and James is scowling. The second part of the challenge is that they need to throw
a star and try to knock out the other persons objects. I do think that the snaller benches are there for people to sit on while they are out, which makes me
think that my spec on throwing stars toward the two tiered benches is off, because if somebody is a wicked bad shot they could actually take out someone
sitting on the side benches.

Good idea about a place to set objects. The larger benches seem to be right in the middle of the course.
Bad shots are bad shots, Brandon almost shot himself in S3. They'd have to be well off the course to be out of it. |

Perhaps they sit on the bench farthest back while they await their turn, stand at the fore bench to make their throws and then move to the smaller benches to
the side when their out? There's an awful lot of room still yet in that area and I can't really see them throwing towards where they sit.

If that is the case, then that still doesn't explain what role the two tiered benches play, and what are PG and the others looking and smiling/scowling at.
Jeff has a smile and head tilted up, eyes looking right at the bench area, PG, Todd, Courtney, Amanda, and Erik are all looking downward at an angle, James is
looking away and with a big scowl. It appears that if they are looking at Denise she is pretty close to the two tiered benches because of the angle of the
eyes. If she had just won immunity, maybe she falls to the ground and starts laughing/giggling and carrying on. This causes some to smile and others to look
annoyed, like Courtney looks annoyed. She hasn't received the necklace from Jeff yet (if she has won), otherwise, she would be over by Jeff who is
standing near the necklace on the stand to his right.
Something has to happen with the two tiered bleacher benches, I have never seen a survivor challenge where all of the stuff out there wasn't used in the challenge. It makes no sense that they would sit on the top row wait to shoot the star, then move to the bottom row and shoot the star, and then move to the benches on the right, especially since in every pic we have they are standing. |

Only Jeff isn't standing by the idol stand he's standing by the ramp in.
As you can see by the second picture there's rather large area that's not being utilized if all the action is by the benches. |

Just for the sake of brainstorming...
Is there anyone else who could come in to sit on row after row of benches? Like some of the Shaolin dudes? |

Is there anyone else who could come in to sit on row after row of benches? Like some of the Shaolin dudes?Since this is the IC, I would say no. If it was for the jury, there would only need to be seats for 3. No need to have visitors of any kind at an IC unless they were judges for a dance like in Fiji. The other times we have seen tiered benches is in a Q and A challenge, a food auction, or the like. The last time this arena was used was at the rock hammer throwing IC. I just rewatched that episode and that challenge in slow motion, there wasn't any bleachers or benches. Those that were waiting their turn for the challenge were standing behind colored bamboo that matched their tribe color. Jeff stood on the ramp to the walk in tunnel to stay out of the way. So those bleachers and the benches were added specifically for this challenge IMO. Martrae, Jeff isn't standing directly by the necklace stand, you are correct he is standing next to the ramp. However, the necklace stand is just on the other side of the ramp, so he is standing closer to the necklace than the survivors are and therefore his looking in the same direction as everyone else means to me that he hasn't just placed the necklace on anyones neck. he would have them walk over to him and put it on them there. |

If they use a lot of the hour showing us Shaolin, they might do a Tribal Council right there after the challenge. The benches could be for a TC.

After building such a magnificent structure as they did for TC, I don't think they would do TC right here. No voting urn, no snuffer, the jury would be
sitting on the benches with the others on the bleachers, too close. This challenge is played in full daylight with the sun high overhead, TC is done at night.
Plus, they would be bringing their torches with them to the challenge. I like how everyone is trying to think outside the box, but I don't think we have
hit it yet.

Sun angles alrighty, not bad Kona ...we need a hair analysis here too. Maybe there are just different shooting ranges.

No hair analysis from me croc :-) It looks the same. As far as I am concerned, they start in the one position where the blocker is in front of their feet and
then move for the challenge. Denise is being watched and who knows, James is probably just caught in mid shot looking somewhere else. Not sure why there
would be multiple benches other than when they are done, they sit on them. The two tiered ones I can see being used for the eliminated ones (if that is the
case) as I thought they had those types of benches in Fiji during the question challenge when Stacy got villified. The single bench, no clue.

Courtney and James' roots are showing, while the mullet goes on. Thankfully Jean-Robert's blurred pubs are gone. ;)
Here is what they are throwing at
What is James aiming for? The numbered plates?? |

Forgive me if this was mentioned elsewhere and I just didn't notice, but they each have on different colored scarf thingies. Todd's is green and
around his head, Courtney's is yellow on on her waist, and so on. So my guess is that this is a classic "you have to break three or four things"
and that the colors somehow code to their own plates or whatever they are.
My guess for Denise is that when the vote at TC to reward someone, they reward her thinking it's for RC but it turns out she's immune from the IC and gets to sit out? |

Erik and Denise may have an edge, but throwing the morningstar is a bit difficult. You need to have the right angle for it to move right, and that depends on the weight of them. |

In this clip from SF you can see the '1' to the far right. So I think the numbers (1,3,5) are kill shot points. James is throwing at one that has has
both a 5 and 3 and the 5 is raised higher. So I believe who ever gets the most points by hitting the numbers win. There is most likely more than 1,3 and 5
since we can only see a small part of target board.

James is throwing at one that has has both a 5 and 3 and the 5 is raised higher. The 5 is definitely three dimensional. Could be that you have to break a clay disk in order to get the points, and the 1 and the 3 have already had their disks broken. As for the two tiered benches, I think Trix is correct that in the second lineup shot they have moved from in front of the first row of benches, to in front of the second row of benches. Both sets of benches seem to be the same height. For the second lineup shot (where they are wearing buffs) The cameraman would be positioned where the first row of benches are (or were, if they simply moved them). |
