I thought last night was pretty entertaining. A lot of folks we had heard nothing from came forward, particularly Amanda.

I suspect we'll be seeing more and more of Amanda as the show wears on. She is getting that slow edit that shows she goes far in the game. I've not
read any of the spoilers (I barely have enough time to watch the show any more!) so I don't know how far she goes, but Final Four wouldn't be a
surprise judging by her edit thus far.

I didn't think last night's episode did very much story telling. We've known for a while Dave was going, so we wrapped that up. Sherea suddenly
went from mildly pleasant to heroic and then lazy, so, um, I'm guessing we just set up her imminent boot. Denise gets to speak, so apparently she does play
some role in the game. Zhan Hu is happier without Dave, and manages to function. Fei Long is still complex, yet well-functioning.
I was interested by Frosti's edit last night. It was consistent with what we've seen of him from the beginning (that is, there doesn't seem to be an arc), but I felt like we got more of it last episode. He's always very reasoned and controlled. Eg, he stepped in to defuse shellgate, without in any way taking sides or commenting on the conflict. His confessionals make clear he's observing tribal dynamics, but what he says in front of others (conversations about the boot, at tribal council) is politic. |

I thought this episode revealed some kinda interesting stuff. I'm not going to arc everyone just those I thought had some interesting editing.
Todd: Todd seems like a good guy and a good player. He isn't overreacting like some (James and Courtney and Sherea) or overplaying his hand. He has good insights into how to deal with people on a social basis as well as a way of strategizing with them in mind. He is also good at the little lie here and there which could cost a player the game if found out and promoted by the wrong people. Since he is a huge fan of the show, it will give him some extra data to play......but with each season of new people and their individual interaction traits it is hard to know exactly how to play them and how they will react. I think he will be the one who finds the HII. How interesting that everyone seems to trust Todd at this point. Leslie gave her clue to Todd, she's gone. Dave gave his to Todd, he's gone. Todd doesn't even have to fulfill his promise. I think it's a good thing for Todd's part that Dave's gone. Todd's story is slowly being built up.....like Rafe? Jean-Robert: Man, this guy is a maroon (similar to moron but without the lack of intelligence)! Where are his social skills? You won't win survivor by being a social inept! He continually (in my opinion intentionally) annoys people, and does so by being lazy and arrogant. He did get a good guy edit with his language ability.....but come on......you've got to have social skills along with that. The editors are showing us these characteristics of his for some reason! One thing of interest is his "fight" with Courtney last episode. He was totally right and she completely overreacted to his concern that she might burn herself. It made her look bad, but is there something hidden from us by the editors that maybe JR is despised by others in his tribe as well? Or is Courtney just a bitch? Sherea: First I didn't care for her.....then I didn't like her......then I really didn't like her......you see where this is going? Her lack of social skills is going to send her packing.....and real soon! You won't stay in the game as a "challenge winner" if you don't have good tribal interactions away from the challenges. We were shown scene after scene of her as crazy, as lazy, as saying stupid, delusional things which made her team roll their eyes.....and me too! Her quote says it all, "I'm gonna ride the horse till the tail falls off, cause I ain't gon do nothing if I don't have to." Her edit this episode made a nobody a somebody....never good for staying in the game long. James: What? Maroon number two? (this is a dual moron factor.....he and JR talking about Courtney while she was listening in the last episode....but could be there just to show us that Courtney is powerless). His big offense at JR was about nothing....but the editors chose to show us that (his maroon edit?). I actually like the guy most of the time....but he seems clueless about things at times. At first I thought he had an alliance with JR, but he seems to have distanced himself from that as being a serious one. His edit is kinda bouncing around alot. Not sure where his is going. |

I agree with everything that you have said Jaborwok...Especially, what you had to say about Sherea...She has no intentions of doing any work of any kind around camp...She has gotten away with it at her tribe, but now that she has to go to the Fei Long tribe...She is going to try to fool them into keeping her, and it wont work...And as for me, I am glad that they will not keep her around...Just like her quote, She is going to "ride the workhorse" instead of join the workforce... |

That, "I'm gonna ride the work horse..." quote from Sherea is a great Survivor quote though. That may be her SOLE contribution to this season,
methinks...

I'm not expecting anything fancy this season. Todd's the frontrunner all the way 'til the end until the last vote is read at the finale.
If Todd wins, it's expected because that's pretty much the way Earl and Yul were edited. If someone like Amanda wins it's sort of expected in terms of the way females are betrayed-flying below the radar and being less objectionable. Nothing different-it's just a matter of what kind of post-All Stars formula this season is going to be following? Will it be the omnipresent male who plays the game from the beginning or the likeable but unknown female who flies under the radar? |

Yeah, I'm thinking along the same line with Jaborwok as well.
I thought they were preparing us that, even though JR is in his phase II mind game by being a better mate(Jeff's words in TVGuide preview before Thur. show.), it was too late.... That is the constant opinion Jeff had about JR. Being big, strong and knowing Chinese, JR could have done much better. His down fall is that he never even bothered to watch any old Survivors! JR thought of himself as able to read people well and capable to play head games with other players as if he was on a poker table. Alas, just as Jeff said, he found out too late how the game is played on Survivors!

Amanda rocks in the challenges and the personality aspect...
she lies low and works in camp... I predict Amanda/Todd/JR for final 3 Amanda - due to hard hitting naked comps Todd - due to HII JR - due to bullshitting but overall A/T for final 2... (jmo) |

Actually I think if Amanda wins I think it's because she figures out Todd's game of schmoozing everyone before slicing their throats. That's
essentially Brian's game. It will take more than figuring it out. He'll have to be exposed also, which will take some gamesmanship on her part.
That said, I see no reason to anoint anyone the win yet. |

Stephanie lost and we saw her whining and negativity VERY early on. We were given all of her negative attributes during Guat in the beginning. People admired
her on day 1, but that didn't last very long.
We were lead to Brian's shadiness as we saw his smugness and arrogance in his confessionals. He still won because Clay was portrayed very negative very early on. We haven't really been shown any real negativity in Todd yet. We are going into episode 5 and still Todd seems peachy keen and squeaky clean. We are only given subtle hints that he's devious, but that just may serve as some sort of doubt about his winning which otherwise isn't there. The only solid potential winner who was portrayed mostly positive early with only a shadow of negativity cast over him in recent seasons was Ozzy. However, Ozzy had something looming over him that Todd doesn't, a CLEARLY brilliant player in Yul. There are no clearly better players than Todd right now. However, I stand by my common theme: Men win Survivor and we see how. Women get more votes over an obvious loser and we never really see how. Going by the former statement, Todd easily wins. Going by the latter statement, we still have no reason to see how any female wins. |

It wasn't a shock to see the ex-Aitu's at the bottom of their new tribes' pecking orders. |

Anybody else feel like there really isn't much going on story-wise, because there's more than enough drama in camp? I mean Courtney v. JR, Courtney
& Todd overhearing JR & James smack talk, PG vs Dave, Dave vs his tribe.... maybe that's why we haven't been shown an over-riding theme this
season.

I agree WG, plus there were a lot of big persoanlities like Courtney, Dave, JR that were on the front burner. Now it looks like we have a love connection on
the horizen. There is lots of drama and plenty of time to tell the whole story.

Now we have a dumb showmance next. There is something really wierd about us not seeing that much of Amanda. She seems a likeable enough fun person.
