Discovery's "Last One Standing" |
Lead | |
|
"Six American and British athletes are immersed in the most remote tribes in the world, where they live alongside and train with indigenous tribesmen.
From death-defying Zulu stick fighting in South Africa, to anal sex in the Mexican mountains - these men push their physical and mental limits to see who
really is the last warrior standing."
Sounds better than Survivor.

My daughter and I watched it I thought it was pretty good. I am just a little unclear on the concept if anyone else watched do they all stay in the game and
the last one standing is the one that wins the most contests because it didn't look like any body left last night and if so it was kinda unfair for the 3
that didn't get to wrestle. Just wondering but I will watch again I like stuff like this and I miss going tribal.

Wasn't quite sure on the exact concept of it either bluebonnet. I do really like it tho....would love to experience all that! The scraping of the legs
looked sooooo painful.
Is there a prize at the end for someone? Wasn't sure if they all just go to each place and battle...or if they get eliminated as the show goes on.... I dig the blond British guy... |

I watched this last night and I think its a pretty good show. Better than Human Weapon on the History channel. All the guys are really interesting and hot! I
especially like the Brits Rajko and Mark. The one part for me that was difficult to watch was when the chosen three Richard, Brad and Rajko had to endure the
scratching with the piranha teeth. I can't imagine how it feels like to have hot peppers and salt be rubbed into those freshly made wounds. I'll
definitely be tuning in next week, the stick fighting looks really challenging.
Yum!

Here are the guys:
Richard Massey: Rugby and Cricket player from Oxford University From: Oxford, UKAge: 22 Richard Massey is the same age as Jason, but has grown up in a very different world... of country houses, boarding schools and Oxford colleges. Richard has completed a degree in theology and is likely to go on to study law after Last Man Standing. As a sportsman, Richard plays firmly by the rules, and he wants to compete against the best to prove that just because he's from a privileged background he's not as soft as he might look. Richard's academic background gives him a particular interest in the cultural activities and beliefs of other societies and in Last Man Standing he's looking forward to "throwing himself blindly" into tribal activities. The lightest of all the athletes, his best chances will come in sports involving technique and aerobic fitness, especially if rugby, cricket, or croquet is part of the mix... but he's more than willing to give it his best shot at anything involving fighting.
Rajko Radovic: Fitness Guru From: Middlesex, UKAge: 29 Rajko Radovic is a musician and fitness professional. He's played college level volleyball and basketball both in UK and US, but cares just as much about writing songs and performing on stage. He never travels anywhere without a guitar. Rajko's goal is to perfect himself - in mind, spirit, and body. He used both his physical and mental strength to break a world record in endurance Dumbbell Curl. He never enters anything without believing he can win, and his combination of strength and aerobic fitness makes him a powerful all-round competitor. A self-professed mental toughness makes him especially dangerous to be up against. He's in Last Man Standing to prove he can beat anyone - both his companions and local tribes. At 29 he's the big brother of the team. And Rajko's strong spiritual beliefs and soul searching have often had a deep impact on his fellow travellers, especially the youngest member, Jason.
Mark Hoban: Salsa dancer and kick boxer From: Birmingham, UKAge: 28 By day Mark Hoban is a project manager for a construction company. By night he's a ruthless competitor - on the dance floor and in the ring. Mark proclaims that he's "pretty good at just about anything he does". And as a sportsman he believes his speed and aggression will stand him in good stead for most tribal events. But if being both a dancer and a fighter sounds like a contradiction, Mark's complexities don't end there. On the surface he appears to be the joker of the team, often ready with a one-liner. But deep inside he's only recently realised what is really driving him to compete so hard: Mark's still trying to win so he can gain his father's approval.
Corey Rennell: Harvard Naturalist and skiier From: AlaskaAge: 22 Corey Rennell is a Harvard student with a passion for the outdoors - when he's learning he's studying biology and geology. When he's off duty he's running, climbing, or skiing. Corey has lived a life "chasing his fears". His goal is always to push himself one step further than anywhere he's been before. On Last Man Standing, Corey thinks he has the background to win. Growing up in Alaska, he's used to living close to nature and thrives on cold and altitude. And the opportunity to travel and live with tribes will enable the intellectual to read "a few more pages of the book of life". Physically he's by far the best endurance athlete on the team and he wears his intelligence on his sleeve. But when it comes to strength events he might face difficulties.
Jason Bennett: Florida State BMX Champion, 2006 From: Florida, USAge: 21 Jason Bennett makes his living cutting trees in his native Florida, but his passion is BMX racing. He's one of the best, and is hoping one day to make the Olympic squad. Jason took up BMX as a teenager to escape the pain of a family break-up and also the fights he was finding he was getting into. Part of the reason he applied for Last Man Standing was to discover how families live around the world, untouched by so many of the pressures he grew up with in his home town of Sarasota. He turned 21 years old on location, the youngest of the athletes, but he's one of the fittest, fastest and strongest. BMX training has given him awesome explosive power and like Rajko he's difficult to beat in most sports - especially as he comes from the "if you can't beat, cheat" school of sport. And it's Rajko who he looks to as a big brother... and his biggest rival.
Bradley Johnson: American Pro Lightweight Strongman From: Oklahoma, USAge: 29 Bradley Johnson is one of the top lightweight strongmen in US - and for Brad light means a little less than 240lbs of pure muscle. There are few things he can't lift, shift, or throw. And he's out to show just what strongmen can do! Until he joined the team of Last Man Standing, Brad had never travelled out of the US. He had no cell phone, no passport, and not even a credit card. Now he wants to discover what being a man is really about in tribes around the world. He's sure of one thing: with his dreadlocks, tattoos, and sheer scale no one will have seen anyone like him before. Brad is the only married athlete. He lives in Oklahoma with his wife and baby daughter, who has turned his life upside down. All his life he's dreamt of being a Superhero, now he has his chance - by making his little girl proud of him. Brad is tough to beat in any strength event. But endurance is another matter - that's where he's going to have to dig deep and tell himself: "My body wants to give up, but I'm not listening. I'm Brad". |

Surprised not that many people seem to be interested in this show. I've seen the first two episodes (Brazil: wrestling, South Africa: Zulu stick-fighting)
and I've got to say this show is entertainment brilliance! The fact that that these guys could seriously get seriously beat up, adds to the show's
intrigue.
Definitely recommend it! |

That stick fighting was crazy I figured they would all compete but I am glad the chief looked out for the ones who were not up to par so to speak I don't
think I would have done it at all it was scary just watching them. How about the Grab the Meat! scene good stuff. Next week looks good too.

I'm glad there are other people who are enjoying this show! I like this show not only because of the extreme fighting and physical endurance but the
insight into the different cultures and lifestyles of people around the world. The Zulu stick fighting is some brutal stuff! Seeing all the blood gush out of
somebody's head is extremely intimidating. I can understand why some of the athletes were hesitant at first. Jason and Mark did really well and Mark's
kick boxing background really gave him an edge. However, I thought that Jason was more aggressive and balls to the wall and deserved to win. Next week looks
like something that Corey would be good at.

Tonight's episode was definitely a good one! More action than last week in Mexico. Both Jason and Rajko were very aggressive and they definitely proved
that they belonged in that final match. I think Jason's height and his aggressiveness helped him win that last fight against Rajko. Next week Mongolian
wrestling! I am liking Jason more with each episode but my favorite is still that hot brit Rajko!
