I can't believe there isn't a thread for this already, even though it isn't my favorite show around or anything.

I meant to record today's show. I was wanting to start a compilation of Hillary Clinton's television appearances. I think she will make a great
president. The last two times, the Democrats have run nice guys who didn't fight hard enough. Hillary is far from nice, and I expect her to be a fighter.

Yeah I liked Hillary on both Ellen today and when she was on Letterman.
I'm sure you'll get a chance to record this later on since it was the season premiere. |

Hilary's appearance was a lot of fun. Loved the gifts she brought Ellen. LOL. Also, liked the interaction with the public at the diner.

Has anyone else noticed that each passing season Ellen has shown her gay side more and more? I was shocked that Ellen asked Hillary about gay marriage and
stuff... she usually keeps her gay references to just little stories about Portia here and there... I was pleasantly surprised.

I hate the new DJ. He looks like he's so full of himself. I want Johnny back. I'm glad Kathy Griffin will be on next week though! :)

Same Ellen, love her though.
New DJ seems to have a ton more personality than the last guy. But putting all the 'bitches on the boat together'....hmmm, wonder how well that went over backstage?.. As Ellen said, she doesn't like mean spirited jokes.. 'Tune in next week for Wolf Blitzer and our new DJ!' Anyone else think she wanted Butterscotch to Beat box her box? oooooo |

I can't believe Ellen decided to get topical/political this season... her commentary on Senator Craig and then asking the audience for their opinions
shocked me! I guess Rosie being on The View last year really did inspire her, but she's definitely taking a risk of killing the success of her show (even
though I love that she's doing this).
She's FINALLY having Kathy Griffin on! Yay! Except I still think she's a bit of a jerk about the whole thing... "Um, you have to be on the show first to be banned." Oh well, it should be good. |

Dammit just when people were starting to actually post in this thread, all the posts get deleted!
Anyways... to recap... Kathy G was on Ellen today... she was funny... Ellen was annoying with her whole agenda of making Kathy more "positive"... And the general consensus is that Ellen's new DJ kinda sucks. |

That was so hard to watch. I don't like watching happy people sad, it is just to painful. GIVE THOSE BITCHES THEIR DOG BACK! mkay?

I don't get this. The people who run the shelter think the dog will be better off in a cage in a shelter than with a
loving family? Makes no sense.

I have been a foster for a rescue organization that has a similar policy. I think their reasoning is that they invest a lot in their foster dogs and want to
ensure they end up in a rescue-approved home. For example, one of our fosters spent a lot of time at the vet, so ended up costing the agency thousands of
dollars... they culled through over 40 applications to find the perfect home. So it's frustrating to them if that home just hands it off to someone else.
There's loads of (very good) reasons they are so selective about who gets a pet. Technically, Ellen did break the rules of her contract. However, the
rescue could have handled this a lot better... instead of just taking the dog away, why not just give the new family the opportunity to go through the
applications process and all that.

Holy shit! I just saw the opening of the show and it was incredibly hard to watch. I actually teared up. Seems like she is genuinely distraught. It is
crazy that with all the animals who desperately need care that this organization would take a dog away from a good home - ridiculous power tripping on their
part. Don't they have better things to do? I guess I am extra sensitive to this after watching the report on the Today Show about the website that is
trying to find homes for shelter animals by basically showing a countdown to their scheduled death. I think this organization just shot themselves in the foot
with all the bad press they are going to be getting and that is very sad for the animals they help.

is crazy that with all the animals who desperately need care that this organization would take a dog away from a good home - ridiculous power tripping on their part. Don't they have better things to do? Like I said in my post above, the foster organizations DO have valid reasons for their rules. It's not their fault Ellen chose not to abide by their contract. It's not like they don't have better things to do, or that they're power tripping, nor is it that they don't care about an animal sitting in a shelter. In fact, quite the opposite. The "first right of refusal" clause that says an adoptive family should turn the pet back to the agency is intended to ensure the animals gets an equally good home. Otherwise, you could end up with the dog just being handed off time and again (which isn't good for the animal), or worse, being turned into a kill shelter, if the adoptive family, or whoever they give the dog to, decides they can't keep it. I mean think about it - the rescue is devoting time and money to rescuing dogs, then through a series of events it could end up euthanized at the SPCA. They also want to prevent people who might not have good intentions from getting their hands on the dog - backyard breeders or dogfighting types. Since they often personally interview and do an evaluation of the house the animal ends up at, they are able to determine who is the best parent, especially if it's a specialized breed with certain needs. It's easy to say how mean the rescue organization is being, when Ellen comes on TV crying her eyes out, but she really only has herself to blame for violating the contract. I hope for her sake, the dog's and the hairdresser's, it works out for everyone. |
