Yeah, Fluffy gave us a heads up on Dick or I might have hated him at teh start. WHen I found out he was a suckster, I gave him the benefit of the doubt.

That burrito and big gulp story was funny. This is what I mean about the Los Angeles scene. Strangers are NOT NICE to each other, not like out in the Midwest and down in the South. Out in LA, you do NOT make eye contact with strangers, you DO NOT give them room to merge while driving, etc. It just isn't done.

When I lived in the South, perfect strangers exchange pleasantries as they meet each other going in and out of stores, etc. They hold the door open, the let you merge, they use blinkers. Same thing in the Midwest. Out there in LA, it is like you are a little rat fighting for your little space out there and you have to behave not as nice and friendly toward strangers as you might have anywhere else.

I didn't hear the beginning of Dick's story, but people are ASSHOLES to each other out there and you get the rare Dick who lobs a burrito and big gulp into your new car. PWNED by ED in that encounter.

I live in L.A. too, but actually, it's a lot more people, a lot of diversity, but I have never had a problem. Guess, it's just what you know.

The times i lived in LA, I lived in Cerritos, Marina Del Rey, Manhattan Beach, Gardena, and Rancho Dominguez, as well as near Culver City. The density in those areas (except for Cerritos) was very high and thus people were just not as friendly as in areas where there is not as many people per square mile. Every area I lived in was VERY ethnically diverse. I never lived in an area except for MB and MDR where white folks were not a minority. Perhaps the diversity was the problem because people are wary. I was comfortable because I thought ethnically diverse communities are INTERESTING. But there is a difference in how strangers seem to treat each other out there.

Right now I live in a lilly white community. It is quite boring. I can't find good ethnic restaurants here. I am DYING to find a good Mexican food restaurant. I finally found a good Chinese food place. Here in the Midwest, these people like BLAND food and eat meat and potatoes all the time. Living in LA, I loved the diversity in food and rarely ate a meat and potatoes Midwest meal. I can't even find good pizza here, which is disappointing.
