If you have a well and your pressure is too high, then bleed some air out of the tank bladder, and likewise, if your pressure is too low then add some air to the tank bladder. If you have city water, then turn the valve after your water meter back to restrict the flow to a pressure you like. Oh, and get yourself a good digital pressure guage to read the tank pressure if that's what you have. You really don't want to have to replace the tank because you ruptured the bladder because of too much pressure* *Just thought of the Simpsons epi with Grandpa's kidneys exploding..... Neither of those should have burst unless a joint failed or you were pushing over 125psi.... Sorry to hear about that. The safe bet is to install a solenoid valve on the inlet (city water) or after the tank (well) tied to a pressure regulator with an electrical output. If you have a pipe let go, the rush of water will trigger the solenoid to stop the flow of water.... You could also tie the solenoid to water bugs placed around things like your water tank or water heater. Those are the most common to let go....

We sold our old (1930's) house to a woman who bought the house as is w/o an inspection (ssts). We had problems with the water pressure, but we adjusted by getting special shower heads, knowing not to run the dishwasher when someone was in the shower, or not trying to do laundry and water the grass at the same time. She moved in and put in a pressure thing and she burst a pipe within a week. Sucks to be her.

I'm telling ya, forego the $150 shower head and buy a $30 water saver shower head. It gives you pressure as if you're putting your thumb over a hose and spraying a fast stream of water instead of just letting it flow out.

Some come with that water saving thing. Sucks. Are there shut off valves under the sink? Those can be turned down. And there might be a shutoff for the shower feeds as well. Usually behind the wall or in the basement after the hot water splits, but that would affect the rest of the outlets as well.

A LOT of cities get their water from wells and then just add chlorine and maybe fluoride. That's it...no further treatment. RoMa...I'd try a new showerhead.
