Truly, despite the cliche', it was "the end of the innocence" for the United States. Perhaps, for these many years we have simply chosen to keep our collective heads in the sand regarding the evil that has flourished for years in other parts of the world. We always though, "Oh, that could never happen here!" Wrong. My thoughts tomorrow will be with the families whose loved ones perished when evil announced that it had arrived. But today, I will offer my thoughts in prayer for this nation to rise above the negativity and fear of our post-9/11 psyche to once again become a nation which exemplifies perseverance and determination.

He was 4 and too young to be made aware of what was happening at the time. I watched a show last night that had Tom Brokaw interviewing the air traffic controllers who were the first to figure out something was really wrong. Isn't CNN replaying the entire morning of 9/11 tomorrow am?

It's my understanding that some observance is slated for here in Toronto tomorrow. 24 Canadians lost their lives in the twin towers. I've also read that the Prime Minister will address Canadians on the tube tomorrow. A big deal, I guess, when you consider that the government in power at the time never even pubically recognized that Canadian lives were lost in NYC, (according to a daughter of one of the killed Canadians.) I was just off the air at the time of the first strike and I have a tape of me coming back on the air to report what had happened. We knew so little at that time and the personal shock and disbelief in our own voices was evident. It's really strange to listen back to it now.

Posts: 659 09/10/06 09:45 AM Registered user Reply Quote More Recent Posts	I was talked into seeing the World Trade Tower movie - so I've been dealing with a lot of these feelings since then. I sat and cried through most of it - I don't think it was a particularily good movie but the emotions of that day still overwhelm me. it really reminds you of what's important in life - sitting listening to it unfold on the radio in my office - all I could think of was I wanted to be with my family and holding them.

Yeah, I thought the same thing. I had just dropped my son off at preschool and my husband was just outside of DC attending a business meeting. As everything unfolded, I kept thinking what next. I'm a pretty calm person, but I was pretty panicked just like everybody else at the time. My husband couldn't make it home for 3 days and ended up finding a rental car which was almost impossible at the time and driving from Maryland to Florida all night long.

A co-worker came in and tapped me on the shoulder and changed my computer screen to cnn.com. The first plane had just hit. I hung up the phone. We all went in to the main conference room where the large screen was and sat there, stunned, all day. One poor lady was in hysterics because her son worked at the WTC. It was horrible. I remember leaving early to pick up my kid.

We stayed together on the phone that whole day, crying and raging in total disbelief. I would flip back and forth from ABC to NBC and she would watch CNN and CBC. That was the only day in 22 years of child raising that I forgot to go to the bus stop for my children after school. They walked home that day crying because I had forgotten them. I couldn't even function, so I cannot begin to imagine what the American people felt. Heartfelt prayers for everyone affected, even in the tiniest ways.

Most of it centered around some 22 year old jack-ass that made a documentary about it that he posted on the internet. :eyes Times like this I can't wait to get out of this shithole country.

I will be going to work. Both of my children remember the day well.

Heh...I can top that...I have a cousin who was born on 9/11/01 I believe her offical birth time coincided with the time the second tower fell. She's in for one hell of a story when she gets older.

Of course they have no choice - if their bosses say travel, they have to travel. Some of them say things like - oh geez - what a day to have to fly, huh? In my recap I hate saying - you're booked on Monday the 11th of September blah blah blah.
