The ET announcer said the theme was "Current Hits of the Past Five Years" but I've seen nothing more, and it's getting late. So I'm putting in "Current Hits" and we'll see.

Ryan: Welcome to the pressure zone. Six left. Everything is hinging on one single performance. Who will rise to the occasion? Fall by the wayside? It's your call on ...
American Idol. Ryan: We're live. The finale is getting closer. The momentum is building. Last week we lost Anwar. Audience: Ohhhh. Ryan: Yes but he's back teaching his students how to hit high notes in impossibly tight pants. Obligatory Ryan/Judge banter omitted. |

I guess the hair is marginally better than Alone's hair.
I like Martina McBride, but this was never my favourite song by her, and Carrie's performance leaves a lot to be desired -it's a pretty fun song that she again manages to bore up. Although she at least performed this time, apparently taking lessons from Connie. |

Not surprising that Ryan didn't mention that there is only one black person left.
(Scott) Yet again Carrie has no emotion. |

She sounded horrible and very out of tune, to me, which is odd since this is her "element".

CarrieOkie returns. Meh. Anyone on Nashville Star could top this. If you've heard the orginal version, you know how terrible her performance was.

I couldn't hear half of Carrie's song (music was too loud), but the half I heard was decent enough.
Dissapointed that she went back to country, though. |

Carrie Underwood.
When God Fearin' Women Get The Blues by Martina McBride Tonight's video clips are home visits. For Carrie, we see life on the farm in Checotah. An odd effect with the voice to start, kind-of a controlled warble, but it's slightly off. And the violin accompaniment is drowning her out, which doesn't speak well for the sound guy. The second verse is better than the first, and it's delivered backwoods country style. If she's throwing down, it's as a country singer, not a balladeer. IMO, a poor choice, as it's not as well-known as most songs. A 6. Randy: The fiddle was hot, but pitch-wise, I felt like you were under the whole song. It didn't quite come. Audience: NO! Randy: When you hit the chorus, it was kinda there, but it didn't work for me. Paula: It was. At this stage of the performance, you have to show your personality and your vocals. You showed your personality, but I didn't feel the vocals. Simon: I don't think anything you said makes much difference. It sounded like someone else chose your song last week. I don't really understand this type of music, but I think the people who are voting for you this week will absolutely LOVE you after that. |

OK, I love Carrie. She's my favorite, but that was not good. Again, the background music was too loud (a theme of the season) and the vocals were too Carmen-like.

I liked the fact that she sang a country song, but I didn't like that particular song she had sang.
