Todd Watchdog Report - Episode #6
This wasn't a good episode for Todd, this episode Todd really showed why he's a distraction, with a 5 visibility and an S3. And as usual pretty much
all of his airtime was strategy talk, other then a confessional narrating the reward a bit. There was so much stuff that could have easily been trimmed down
this episode to keep Todd a 4 visibility, but the editors chose not to. I mean here's my notes on all the times Todd talked strategy this episode, not all
the times he talked, but talked strategy.
-Todd saying to Amanda he has to tell her something, she can't tell anyone, there's a HII here, Amanda asks how he knows, Todd explains, says he was going to wait until he had it to tell her but he can't find it. Todd repeats he was going to tell her once he got it but he can't find it.
-Todd says if they win the RC they're bringing over Aaron/James whoevers left because they'll give them the HII clue, and him/Amanda will have control in this game.
-Todd says sometimes he feels like he's the only person playing this game, (cut to show Todd in confessional) so he knew right away that once they got James he would approach him.
-Todd says to James there's something inside that tube and if he gives it to him he can help save his life. James asks what it is, Todd says he'll tell him tomorrow, Todd kind of explains the rules of it to him. Promises to use it to help save James, say he's got a whole plan.
-Gets the clue, Todd says he'll come back later once he finds it.
-Todd reads the clue alone and says he knows what it's talking about and where it is.
-Goes over to try to find HII with Amanda, (Todd says he has to get something to pry it with). (Frosti starts to climb up). Todd says he's going to fall down and die, (Todd says that Frosti comes over and starts to climb up and Todd goes into panick mode, he's going to find out he's going to see us, and Amanda's telling him to get off from there since she knows about it). (Todd says he was telling him to get down and started panicking), Todd pulls off the idol, Amanda's then standing on it, Frosti asks if he can see it, Todd says in a confessional all he was thinking is "Frosti no".
-Todd says if I can't trust you I will kill you to Frosti, Frosti sees what it is, starts appologizing some, Todd says it's ok, they have to trust him, they don't have a choice.
-Todd says James came down, and he gave him the idol and told him what just happened, Todd tells James they've got to lose immunity, James says that shouldn't be too hard they're throwing it anyway. Todd continues his confessional saying so James takes the HII and they lose immunity, they all vote for James, he uses it and votes for Jaime, so they sever that tie between her and Erik and they merge and hopefully have their numbers and are still strong.
-Todd explains how the HII works. Todd tells him to run up and grab their HII off right away once he gets back without them noticing.
-Todd tells Denise about the HII and how they have to win, Todd says James knows to help throw the challenge. Todd tells Courtney about the idol and plan
-Todd says that him telling Courtney/Denise about the HII made them realize that they need to try harder at the IC today, especially if they're fighting for it to which they don't even know if it'll be the case.
-Todd says perfect plan smashed, but they're still trying to look on the bright side, they lost but still get rid of a ZHer, and still have their numbers.
-Denise/Todd agree with Amanda, Todd says he's almost certain that Frosti is with them, and they can use tonight to get him to trust them since they want him to trust them as much as he wants them to trust him.
-Todd says eventually everyone's name gets put on the list, he hates doing it, but obviously (?) it's a smarter move. Todd says he understands.
-Todd tells Amanda that he doesn't know why, but he feels like they should vote out one of theirs tonight. Do you see what's happening now, they are lining themselves up as power players, they will get rid of them if they don't start to do what people want, because JR isn't stupid, he will turn on them he will.
-Todd says he doesn't know what to do. Todd acts confused then says this sucks.
-Todd says that hurts him since he loves her (Courtney),day 1/2 he didn't like her, but he's loved her since. Todd says but he likes all of them and hearing her say that is like rubbing salt in the wounds.
I gave Todd a CPP5 rather then a CP5 like most of you because this episode I definitely got the feeling that we were supposed to
like him, and the footage was all constructed to show Todd as a guy to root for. I mean take his talks with James, he tells us that he'll help save James,
and then he'll have even more power in the game. James is the hero that we want to see saved, therefore we like Todd for saving him. And take the HII
scene, are we met to cheer for Frosti when he starts to climb up? No we aren't. Todd's ratings have so far not reflected the P edit he's gotten for
much of the season.
As for strategy, I did give Todd a S3+, and when thinking about it later started to second guess the + some from how we saw his
plan 'fail'. But overall, I don't feel that people will leave this episode going "wow Todd was such a moron this episode", despite how
Todd called his plan a failure, he really didn't lose much. He got rid of someone who wouldn't have been on his side in the merge, and he protected Fei
Long from the Zhan Hu's throwing challenges to get rid of a Fei Long to pagong them in the merge. The only thing he lost was a HII, but hey it's in an
ally's hand, so if it's needed to advance his alliance farther James would probably give it up, it's not like Todd gave it to an enemy who's
dead set on getting rid of him. The audience will probably think he's smart from how he secured the HII clue and saved James with it (well saved him had he
gone to TC). We haven't seen the effects yet of voting out Sherea and if it'll really hurt him or not from Courtney, we'll have to wait and see on
that one.
In short, Todd's scenes include very excessive amounts of content that could have easily been trimmed away, or given to someone else, if the editors were
truly interested in not overexposing him. Todd is very likely just a big old distraction, and this episode proves it. I don't think it's going to get
any better next episode either, because who was a big part of the promo? Todd, and his part of the promo was the only part about what happens after the merge,
which is what will take up most of the episode. Things don't look good for Todd's chances of getting a cool down episode anytime soon.
Strategy Rating - S3+
Winner Chances - Looks like a distraction
