Todd Watchdog Report - Episode #2

After watching this episode a few times, I've come to realize something, boy am I going to have a hell of a time deciding Todd's tone. Both episodes I've found that he's come off P, but that's clearly not the majority opinion here, he's getting more N's then P's, I hope me liking Todd so far isn't blinding my judgment. Well first off lets start with my notes on Todd this episode.

-Todd shown as pushing Aaron into leadership role, calling himself smart for doing it
-Todd and Amanda get tight, make a F2 deal, make a F3 deal with Aaron, plan to use Aaron as a figurehead
-Talks about the art of war with Amanda and Leslie
-Amanda says they should have the strongest players until the merge, Todd says he will stick with her, Amanda says "your my one alliance", Todd says ok, Amanda says you have to have one in this game. Amanda confessional says "me and Todd made an alliance that we're going to stick it out until the end of this because even though Todd is really devious I've been watching him closely and I think we have a good alliance so far, at least until the merge". Tells Todd (captioned) "I love how we're playing this game kind of the same, like we're doing what we're told you know, we're doing a lot of work, cause obviously Aaron likes the people that work a lot", Todd suggests pulling in Aaron as #3. Says we need someone strong to call our shots, when we make the plans and he speaks them out it puts the target on him
instead of us. Amanda confessional says "We decided that we're going to pull Aaron into our group so that if anyone has to take a rap for anything then it's going to be on Aaron".
-Todd says obviously this is a game about power players, and who wants ? first, we need a three, which is us. Amanda says something about being smart. Todd says he'll swear on his life to take them to the three, Amanda says because that's how the game is played, you have to, Todd says and at that point, whatever. Some "I trust you" and hand shakes. Todd confessional says "Amanda and I have this game in our hands, so we have our alliance, we have exactly what I came here to do"
-JR argues with Aaron, says he hasn't been able to work as much as he'd like, Todd and Amanda shown smiling as they watch the fight from a bit of a distance.
-Leslie explains how she's trying to find the HII but isn't having much luck, feels like if it was a snake it would have bitten her by now. Thinks she's going to have to trust someone else to help her, has to be someone witty who she can trust, thinks that would be Todd. Wants to team up with him. Tells Todd "I want you to trust me", says she told Todd the clue, they will team up and use it, she trusts him. Todd says he can't believe she told him, Leslie is sick, so if she goes then he'll be the only one who knows about it, so his goal is to find it as fast as possible, and if Leslie gets sick and has to leave and he's the only one who knows about it then great.

Ok, so for starters lets explain his strategy rating, Todd is shown all about strategy, he's shown in the recap calling himself smart for pushing Aaron into the leadership role. He makes an alliance with Amanda, and they use Aaron as their 'figurehead' basically, and smile as their plan works and Courtney gets annoyed at him. Then we later see Todd hear the HII clue from Leslie, saying he needs to find it ASAP, and that if he kicks out Leslie he'd be the only one who would know about the clue. So far everything continues to go Todd's way, and he appears to be in control of Fei Long.

Ok that handles the strategy, now for the hard part. I debated MOR for Todd, but felt we really got into his head once again this episode, and he explained everything either to people he was talking to, or in confessionals to us. Ahh but the tone, I just get the feeling that this guy is really energetic and met to come off P and like a genius whenever I see him on the screen. Yet he does some 'evil' things, or suggests that he might do them, like getting rid of Leslie so only he knows of the HII clue, he also continues to get called devious. I'm of the opinion that his N things are currently being 'handled with kid gloves' as CL would say, they could have made him look a lot worse for what he said about Leslie's mistake. It's just so hard to explain, other then watching this episode I got the feeling that him and Amanda are the people we're supposed to be rooting for on Fei Long the most. I mean the only other P competition is Leslie, who I get the feeling (again might be a bit biased here) has a bit of a slight N mixed in with her edit usually, since some people might take her talk about God the wrong way.

I just think they could be doing a much better job at making Todd N if this is really a N Todd, and that he's at worst static neutral or M. I mean look at Stephenie, she more then anyone showed the power of editing to make someone look like an OTTPP angel or a disgusting OTTNN person. I just think that the only reason we're getting these 'devious' comments, and Todd going "I could get rid of Leslie and have the HII all for myself" is to create drama and suspense, and set up the story of Todd the master strategist, not to show Todd as a jerk or villain who we're supposed to despise.

As for Todd's chances at winning, while talking about the Art of War again certainly bodes well for him, I don't think that this continued 'everything is going Todd's way' thing is good for his chances, the audience is going to be expecting him to win soon enough if they aren't already. He needs some cool down time next episode, an UTR1 or UTR2 along with an S0 would do him some good.
