AMANDA KIMMEL WATCHDOG REPORT
Episode Two- "My Mom is Going to Kill Me"
Amanda's main scene came early in the episode, when her alliance talk with Todd (which Warrior proved was from one of the first few days) formed. She was shown as the one initiating it for the most part. Most of what she says is subtitled, while oddly Todd's is not, when what she's saying is clearly audible. She tells him "We should have the strongest players until the merge" which is subtitled before they confirm their alliance. She says on a confessional: "Me and Todd made an alliance that we're going to stick it out together until the end of this because even though Todd I think is very devious, I've been watching him really closely, and I think we have a good alliance so far, at least for the merge." Her conversation with Todd resumes when she says "I love how we're playing the game kind of the same. Like we're doing what we're told, you know? We're doing a lot of work. 'Cause obviously Aaron likes people that work a lot." Todd then proposes the idea of brining Aaron in as their third, Amanda immediately agrees with him, as she explains their reasoning in a confessional. "We decided to pull Aaron into our group so if anyone has to take a wrap for anything then it's going to be on Aaron." The three of them are then all shown talking and putting their hands in, confirming their alliance with one another. There's two thing from these scenes worth noting, in my opinion. One, is that many of Amanda's lines are oddly subtitled, when to me they are perfectly audible. Two, is when she says "I've been watching him really closely" in reference to Todd. That line alone made me think she was thinking in a complex manner. Couple that with her confessional about bringing Aaron in as their front man so he could be targeted first definitely makes her complex for the episode. That's how I feel anyways. Her next "scene" occurs at the Reward Challenge.
It's necessary to note that the title of the episode was a quote from Amanda. Whether it's important or not, cannot really be concluded, they tend to use whatever quote that fits the episode or the moment of the episode they find most interesting or entertaining. If anything her scene at the Reward Challenge was showing that she is a modest person, which is a bit of a positive. The scene was also positive because she was shown pulling through for her team and winning the first round of the challenge for Fei Long.
Overall, this episode definitely helped Amanda's chances. I'm not jumping to any conclusions, but her chances are far better than they were in episode one, especially due to the fact that she was introduced to us mainly in a strategic manner. It's still not great that she didn't have an eventful first episode, but the thing (for me) that makes me ponder her chances is that her editing pattern seems pretty similar to Danni's so far, and I remember in the off season someone saying that the purpose of Watchdogging was to potentially indicate UTR winners. Well, it's too early to declare anyone as a UTR character, because we're only two weeks in, but we have to account for all possibilities.
At this point, Amanda should still be in contention. The past few seasons have been obvious in your face winners, so, they could take that direction once again, or maybe the winner will be more subtle. It's too early to tell anything at this point, but along with Leslie, Peih-Gee, Todd, Aaron, Courtney and Jean-Robert, she should remain in contention. Where her edit goes from here is truly dependent on the next few weeks, though an UTR episode next week wouldn't kill her if Fei Long ends up immune once again. A UTR episode if her tribe attends Tribal Council, would really decrease her chances.
Amanda's Episode Two Rating- CPP3
*I know this is a probably close call, so if you want to sway me... go ahead.
