How did the cave dwellers know of the weapons development planet to paint their constellations in the first place. Only the Architects could have told them, and if they told them, then they were there, if they were there they would could have easily destroyed a non-tech populace.
Why was David a secret asshole? Surely it would have been programmed against harming humans. Somebody in the crew would have been a better candidate....

David was an asshole because robots ALWAYS have to go all evil in movies. I can't think of a single movie where the robot turns out OK or just does what it's supposed to do or just break like any other electronic thingie you own.

They always go ape-shit, vomit milk, rape, pillage, dissolve peoples faces and other stuff.
