OMEDETO, CATHY!!

I don't think it's even been 6 months since B&N released the Nook Tablet 8GB model and now it's $179.99. 16GB is now $199.99. If I'd known this was going to happen I'd have held off on buying a Nook tablet a few months ago. Whatever. I don't buy apps so there's still plenty of space.

I'm not sure why anyone would buy the Nook or the Kindle Fire when you can get a Google Nexus or the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 for almost the same price

Eh. No Google Apps on the Fire, though, so no Gmail, Google Maps, Translate, Drive, Calendar, Chrome, or YouTube. Lots of other apps that are available in the Play store are not available through the Amazon App Store. No thanks.

From what I've read, paid apps from Google Play will not authorize properly. That may have changed, though. For me, though, the biggest drawbacks to the Fire might be the interface and the fact that all of the new Fires will be stuck with the "Special Offers" and you can't opt out of them.

that's changed - amazon backed down and for $15 you can remove them - I've been informed I'm getting the Kindle Fire HD (not the big one) as a present - the big ones are not sold outside the US and neither is the Paperwhite one

I looked up the instructions for how to sideload Google apps onto a Kindle Fire. That is by no means an easy process. It involves installing the Android SDK, so tedious, confusing, and annoying is more like it. I'm sure the Kindle Fire is right for some people, but...no. Not for me.

And now, there are the Nook HD+ and Nook HD. The Nook HD has the best screen available in a 7-inch tablet.

Buy amazon. They support their products and give great service. I practically single handedly keep that company afloat with my purchases. I may never shop in a mall again.

Not really feeling the Nook HD.

Honestly I'm disappointed in B&N. Their ebooks are more expensive than Amazon's. I can't pay for something that I know is cheaper elsewhere.

Latest rumors today are a 32 mb Nexus 7 coming soon and the iPad mini is NOT HD . I will be getting the Nexus please.

OK after months of flip flopping and indecision I committed and bought the Kindle HD 8.9 mainly because I had about $300 worth of Amazon credit. So glad I did! It's beautiful and the perfect size too. Everything I've sideloaded has worked great.
