Posts: 13128 03/11/12 06:49 PM Registered User Reply Quote More Recent Posts	Needless to say, the actual covers look a lot clearer...not sure why TVShowsOnDVD/Amazon.com are so blurry. Brandon/Nicole were originally going to be on the cover but since Charla/Mirna were such fan favorites (for some ungodly reason) they broke the final four formula. The bonus features are gonna be Early Show/online footage sort of stuff (I don't know specifics) just like the Survivor sets...no commentary. I'm pretty sure both seasons are going to have bonus material though. Again, not 100% sure.

A better cast and race route has yet to be assembled since. I must say, though, that I am a little disappointed that CBS gave up on producing these full season DVD sets themselves. After the network released/produced Seasons 1 & 7, they handed licensing and distribution off to a third-party entity that presents the seasons with absolutely no frills (i.e. no extras, docs or commentaries). The same thing has happened with the latest releases of Survivor seasons. I get it--they want to be able to release these sooner and yet not have to pay for the frills/packaging. It just sucks for the hardcore fans. Oh well.

Producing new bonus features (or even digitizing old ones) is unfortunately not seen as cost-effective--there's not a significant spike in sales. Even after the years of no releases at all, both Survivor and TAR were nearly dead for good on DVD because initial sales of Africa/Marquesas (and HvV/TAR2 pre-orders) were considered unsatisfactory. Then they advertised the Survivor sets during a finale and the spike in sales gave them the confidence to continue.

I'm no marketing expert, but how were they expecting sales to be great without advertising? "Gee golly, look we put one of them tv commercials out there and our product is selling now...well I'll be! Let's not do that again and ponder why sales keep going down..." (you have to say this with a Disney's Goofy character voice)
