I don't want to root my Nook Color and have it brick on me so I'm going to buy one of these SD cards that you can put in your NC to have it rooted and take back out when you want to go back to the Nook's normal OS. But I don't know which one to buy, does anyone speak nerd here? Here is the page I'm buying the card from http://www.rootmynookcolor.com/shop/index.php Which one of those do I want? What is the difference between Cyanogen and MIUI, are they both basically the same? I'm thinking of buying the Cyanogen card because it has a cooler name.

MIUI is really awesome, but it's a totally different experience than what people are used to with Android. It actually looks a lot like iOS. If this is your first ROM, then I'd go with Cyanogen. Later on, you can try MIUI.

The reason it's such a big deal when CyanogenMod becomes available for a device is because so many different ROMs use CyanogenMod as a base.

The website says the SD card with the program is good for Nook Colors with the 1.4.0 - 1.4.2 updates. Does that mean if it may not work once there's 1.4.3 update, should I stay clear of that?

If they move it to Win8, I'll be pissed, especially since I covet the glowlight model. I can't believe someone would pay $30 for the CM boot for their Color Nook - You can make that disk for free! I did that, but it blows because the SD cards are slow and you'll get a lot of force closes. I bit the bullet and just installed CM on my CNook's internal memory and am very happy ( Well, that battery life kinda sucks and enabling the BlueTooth wasn't as cool as I hoped ) I'm getting more and more comfortable hacking these things, with all the help at XDA and other sites. I have 'enhanced' my Samsung 10" tab and a Coby for my son.
