But take out the old story and replace it with newly written stories, soaking those newly written pages to them to make it appear worn then put them back in...perhaps. Either way, unless I missed something, I don't see how him putting the book back together means he wrote it.

Henry's said a few times before when the Storybrooke characters leave Storybrooke "that bad things happen to them." The real life Hansel & Gretta being split up and forced to live in separate foster homes is the example of a bad thing happening that I can think off.

I thought he was taking pages out with story on them, soaking them to erase the story, and then put them back in - after writing new or revised stories. My guess is he wants to influence the real world since things like skill sets and who you're in love with in the Fairy Tale World seem to carry over to the Real World. Maybe he also needs Henry to read them for them to "come true"? Why give the book back?

You gonna get a lot of weird explanations, followed by people telling you it's a fair tale world so all is fair. Just warning you (and I agree with it all... doesn't take much thinking to get to the "makes no sense" stage).
