Here is a lei with very solid purple dendrobium orchids in the dense style we see in the Survivor lei: (the solid magenta one, not the bi-color) and here is an orchid and tuberose lei: Tuberose and stephanotis are both vines, but I doubt they are growing wild there, and the orchids aren't, not in that quantity. But we have PIP caps of the other three non-contenders all doing a throw, and if Coach plays, they would have a similar frame of him, so it seems odd to me that they left him out and showed the other six. Could be nothing, but could mean something.

Could well be ... depends on whether the TM hints at a reward. I mean, TM typically is relevant to the coming challenge, and we know there is no lei involved in it. Recently they have not been announcing reward until they arrive, if there is one at all, but I suppose TM could say that the winner will feast (or a cryptic version alluding to the possibility). If it is a Samoan feast, I can't imagine that the participants would not be given leis. It's very traditional in the South Pacific, an important gesture of hospitality.

Third, I also thought it might have come with tree mail, but I have an alternative thought. I'm beginning to think Sophie may win immunity again, even though Albert seems like a shoe in for this one. If that's the case, no way she would take John on a reward trip, but she very well might take Benjamin who might later share the lei with his student/acolyte/pet puppy. A Sophie win would also point to Albert beting the faux target at TC. Between the Edna/Rick convo and John saying "we have four votes" I think those three could be trying to sway Benjamin to vote with them against Albert. Unfortunately, any of Sophie, RIck, or Albert could win that IC. My brain hurts again.

While the behind the scenes video showed only three advancing to the coconut slingshot, I could see SEG allowing four of the seven remaining players to advance. SEG likes to give their favorites a fighting chance to win challenges and also to create drama for the story. Even "Cochran (or Edna, Coach, Brandon) misses again!" is better than having them off-camera, for example. OFG, isn't Samoa the place where everyone and their brother wears sarongs even to work , to government meetings and other formal occasions ? I remember in one in an old show (Samoa or was that Fiji?) everyone who went to a luau/feast was given a clean sarong to wear to replace their soiled clothing.

However, the clue indicates that one person makes a big gesture to one other person -- as opposed to sacrificing for the sake of the tribe as Holly did. This is what I wrote at Blows as tentatively working on the teaser: At the immunity challenge, one tribemate makes a big gesture to a fellow castaway. Giving up reward is the most obvious answer. That would be a huge sacrifice. However, it doesn't say "sacrifice"; it says "gesture." A gesture can be an act of kindness towards someone who doesn't expect it. The contenders for winner are all Stargazer Allies. It would not be a special gesture to pick another SA. That leaves Cochran or Edna. I see two possibilities there IF this were the gesture. 1) Rick wins and takes Edna. They are close. This would upset Albert at Rick. Rick would likely take Coach and Edna. 2) Albert wins and chooses Cochran. This would set the stage for Albert and Cochran scheming together to take out Rick. Albert might take Sophie and Cochran. Rick would feel left out, as he was a top contender. If Sophie wins, I do not see her taking a non-ally, not even to cultivate a juror, because she doesn't think much of either Cochran or Edna. I think she would take Albert, because she needs to keep an eye on him. For a third she would likely take Coach, to reassure him. I think that three will enjoy the reward. ETA -- Picking anyone to go on reward is not necessarily a BIG gesture, unless the recipient is feeling ostracized. Picking Cochran could be a big gesture, since he always feels that way. Edna wouldn't. That said, it would certainly be bigger if someone gives up reward for someone else. For example, someone is picked, and he says, I really want to go, but so and so needs it more. We rarely see any selflessness at these reward choices unless Jeff proposes it first. I don't remember the terms Jeff offered in Nicaragua for the volcano-surfing reward that the guys won. Was it, would any of you guys like to give it up so that one of the girls (looking pitiful) can go? I'm thinking it's a very nice reward that comes at a time when the tribe is super hungry, and the choices made could set off big repercussions -- and Jeff will make an effort to see that it works to maybe shake things up. It seems there's a relationship there that we're not seeing. Nothing like a final two deal or anything like that, but I definitely think Sophie has been buttering Edna up for her vote the entire game. Who's always bringing up Edna for the boot? Albert, not Sophie.

I remember Sophie saying something disparaging about Edna, but now I can't think where. Sophie told Albert it would be stupid to rock the boat early. She said that Brandon and Edna would go as soon as the Savai'i were gone. I agree that Sophie is trying to butter up for votes, sure. She doesn't want the jurors to be mad if she can help it. Anyhow, there was something that made me feel she would not be likely to show Edna special favor and pick her, but I could well be wrong.

There was an early Insider vid from somewhere the first 3 episodes where sophie talked about making sure edna is not feeling too oustrasized to flip but no F2 deals or anything like that. Then there was a later Insider vid where sophie was more disparaging of edna.
