Of course one could go through the process of removing the DRM but that's too much trouble for my use.

Posts: 49246 01/02/11 10:31 AM MESS member Reply Quote More Recent Posts	yeah the drms are a problem in most media nowaday, but since I have a kindle, I won't be trying to reformat those books, just the freebie stuff that available out there - however, I'm not sure how much of it is available outside the USA (Hula, all US network broadcasts, and Tor books aren't available in Europe)

And ebooks that I can "check out" of the library are only able to be checked out a certain number of times before the library has to purchase a new license. Those are not circumstances that ever affect traditional books.

But that logic doesn't apply to a downloadable book that's already been paid for. Okay then.

To use you're hypo, you're not buying a book at the garage sale, you're going to the garage sale and photocopying the book. That is copyright infringement. So is copying a digital version of a book.

And did you catch the word "yet" from your quote? It is now possible for other companies to make readers that can read the B&N DRM. The Pandigital Novel ereader is one device that actually does read B&N DRM. Acer is also making an ereader that will read the B&N DRM, but it hasn't been released in the US. It's up to other companies to make their devices compatible with the B&N version of ePub. This will never happen with Amazon because their AMZ format is completely proprietary. That said, all of this waffling clearly indicates that you are too stupid to buy anything, so don't bother.
