Fascinating stuff!

At first, I was confused by Erik's strategy. Would he be stupid enough to target Monica as his first order of business. And then I realized he must be planning to split the votes against Russell's idol. He gets Galu to target Russell, and gets Foa Foa to target Monica/ Since they're bound to target someone on Galu, might as well make it Monica. If Russell plays the idol, his idol is gone and Monica goes home. Erik must be thinking this would be a reasonable outcome. Erik is of course deluded to think Foa Foa would be dumb enough to serve his agenda *especially* after he tells them he knows about Russell's idol.

I mean I get that Erik is desperately trying to preserve his own idol, but he has got to realize that he's the only target that makes sense to Foa Foa. And he has got to go ahead and sacrifice his idol to cover his ass when he knows that votes could, no, *must* bounce his way. Silly Erik. You're very pretty, but it is damn arrogant of you to play the game while assuming that your opponents will not make their best move. I'll miss you.

About Foa Foa:

- Russell is finally shown with his mask down. That fraction of a second when he says, "go home and eat pizza" is, I think, the first time I've seen when he wasn't putting on an act for the camera or for someone else. That is the real Russell with his back against the wall. Cool, determined, pragmatic, quick witted, and quick spoken (the slow drawl turns out to be an act, too). I realy, really like the guy I saw in that half-second. Pity we never see him. Anyway, I'm still having a hard time believing that will all this uncertainty, he won't be playing his idol. Galu must really telegraph their vote under Jeff's probsting questions.

- Natalie has game. Watch Edgic go into a collective tizzy after this episode. The merge episode is one they look to closely for clues to the winner. In this episode, Russell is adirft while former golden boy Mick is, well, more on him later. Meanwhile, Natalie leads the attack into Galu territory. She can actually win this thing, y'all.

- Jaison is not made to play this game. He's too principled and too emotional. The moment when he leads the resistance against Erik's condescending plan starts out making him look good. But then it turns out he's being motivated by his dislike of Erik. It's okay to do things in the game out of dislike, but only when you've exhausted all other strategic reasons. It's possible Jaison did list those reasons, too. But the editors want him to look like a smart but hotheaded goody two shoes.

- Mick turns out indeed to be an 8x10 glossy. If Natalie is driving the train, Jaison is shoveling coal into the fire and Russell is the passenger, well, Mick is fucking luggage. What a disappointment. I know I always say that the winner deserves by definition, but if Mick wins, I'll cut a bitch.

This is going to be a fun episode, for sure.
