You finally danced well! Here's a cookie.")? If so, it worked. I hate him on the show more than I hated Ivan being on the show. Least deserving male of the season (and that's saying something). And how lame was it to save Karla over Asuka, when Vitolio and Asuka were developing a touching connection and a Quickstep was coming up - right up Asuka's alley? Probably wouldn't have changed the overall results, but now we'll never know. Glad Jeanine got props from Nigel, and wore that outfit. She resembled JLH in the group dance. Hubba hubba. |

Phillip is the least deserving. Well tony and JonJon were, but they are actually gone. Kupono was horrible in his Hip Hop, but good in all his others. Vitolio
has been just middle of the road the entire time.

Kupono, according to the judges, has only performed well once (including his DFYL solos). Philip's received more praise from them.
And I see it essentially the same way. Philip's shown he's at least good at his style. Kupono's shown he's not even good in his own style.

Kupono dances his DFYL like someone doing a parody of contemporary dance. Is it some sort of post-modern wink wink? Or does he just suck hard?

They're calling that "personality" around here.

Wait.. The judges loved him three times. Hot Tamale Train last week, loved the Wade Robson (yes, they mentioned his fluidity and how good it was), and
Wednesday's Sonya Routine. Saying someone has reached a new level does not imply they sucked before that. Where did they say he only performed well once?

I'm not a huge fan but I certainly don't get all the Philip hate.

I'm guessing this "new level" was just a fluke and he'll be back to suck next week. And we all know Mary has only been putting Kayla on the imaginary train, not her partners. Kupono's crash test dummy performance was intentionally bad, which really begs the question on whether he's a good dancer who knows how to dance poorly, or just a poor dancer being asked to dance in his element (the choreographer playing to his "strength"). |

The Crash Test Dummy was actually amazing dancing. It was fluid, imaginative, and not as simplistic as it may have looked. I also enjoyed his Viennese Waltz;
and this week his technique, much of it classical, was really fine. And which guys are at a higher level? Pillhips: one note, as enjoyable as he can be with
that one note; Evan, fun but not any kind of master; Jason, better at solos than at pairs; Ade... well I am still not sure about Ade.
As to playing to strengths, ALL these routines are designed that way. Jason's are designed for chest puffing (as are Janine's often enough); JonJon's were made for flips and tumbles (and add Caitlyn to that, too); Evan's are made for Gene Kelly flare and cocktail lounge charm. Part of Vitolio's problem is that he had no real style to work off, and so he ALWAYS seemed kinda bland (though I really really really wanted to like him). Right now, Jeanette and Melissa are the ones who draw me in the most. Kayla does have amazing technique, though her persona could be a bit more intense. Brandon is a good dancer but breaks character too often for my taste. Kupono... is far from my favorite, but I do see potential. |

All the guys are better than Kupono. Kupono is the worst one of the season. Got through in Fox's attempt to relive Mark's quirk-factor, yet he's
failed them at that as well.

Wonder how you feel about Kupono...
Obviously, we disagree... though I do like MArk more (even though Kupono actually appears to have stronger technique, with higher jumps and more fluid kicks and jetees). |

yoshi wrote:Don't you think that giving her a routine specifically choreographed for her, so that she could dance en-pointe(?) isn't a MAJOR pimp move? I don't mind her, but that routine, more than any other move recently, shows how manipulative the judges are towards their favorites. Agreed that they need to re-name the dancing for your life segment, and they need to be honest about the 'random' draw from the hat for the routines. |

Am I the only one who thought Kayla looked completely naked in the group routine last night?

I think more people were imagining Janine or Caitlyn completely naked in the group routine last night.

Again, I WISH there were a show where we could see people, solo or in pairs, excel at their OWN dance form. Phillip would be great to watch in such a show. As
it is, he does these amazing solo routines but does not belong in a competition that is about anything more than pop and lock.
