I never knew how to tie my laces until i was 11. I never use to wear shoes with shoe laces because i didnt know how to tie them.

Trixie Delight wrote: I think that's it. Mommy and Daddy do everything and they're too lazy to teach their kids anything that makes the kids work. They're the same parents that clean their kids rooms for them. My five year old can cut up her own meat, it's not that hard. If you can't figure out how to eat it without help then you shouldn't be ordering it. |

Well cutting it for a 5 yr old is a helluva lot different than a 10 yr old, in my opinion.
Both of mine could tie shoes before they started school, they were each one of about only 3 or 4 in their headstart classes that could do it all on their own. I was always baffled by that, but I agree it's the velcro and the parents doing it for them that are to blame. |

I agree GNG, my daughter is advanced for her age. I wouldn't think anything of someone cutting up a chicken breast for a kindergartner. But a third grader?
It's like those kids that only eat mac and cheese, chicken nuggets and fries. Too much coddling. |

When I was in kindergarten, I used to sit like royalty as other kids tied my shoes because I didn't know how. It was awesome. I eventually practiced on my
own and figured out how to do it.
