But, I am really liking how the basis of this season is in the books, but it's also integrating the non-book characters into the storyline seamlessly. And I just think Hoyt/Jessica is the most adorable thing ever...well, adorable as it can be involving vampires. Also, that Bullhead creature was scary as all hell just standing there.

As soon as I finished number six, I was off to get that seventh. That's how good I thought the books are. (My daughter has now borrowed a few. Sigh. I may never see them again.) ANYWAY, I saw the first season first, then read the books before the second. I agree that the books do you help you understand the characters motivations, but the show really is different. Which is good because now I don't know EVERYTHING that's gonna happen. Since I've heard the show has at least a four year run going on, what I'm most curious about is how they'll handle all the other supernatural beasties. In the books, my favorite is Eric, but on the show, it's Sam. That guy doesn't have to say a single word to make my heart go pitter-patter. I'm just so happy it's on HBO because any other network except maybe Showtime who have screwed the pooch with these stories.

That was endearing. I think Eric didn't react to Sookie's slap because she amused him at that point and also his mission to Dallas was more important. Daphne - wasn't she the only one other than Sam to be unaffected by Maryann's antics at Merlotte's in the second episode?

I was just watching Kalifornia, that freaky David Duchovny/Brad Pitt movie, and she was Duchovny's chop-cut up-tight wife. Also, in the second episode when there was an exchange between Maryann and Daphne, it was clear that they had never met before. I can't remember if Maryann noticed that Daphne was unaffected, but even if she had the scars on Daphne's back are too old for her to have been attacked within the last few days...someone had mentioned that we may have been led to believe that Daphne may have been attacked by the same creature as Sookie, but that might not be so. MaxF - Sam keeps on talking about being pre-occupied and not himself. So perhaps he is not picking up on what Daphne could be?

She was leaning up against the tree, and I think she poured the beer in her mouth and overfilled it and it was the beer spilling out of her mouth. I'll rewatch it though, to see if it is her.
