I have a cousin who was 14 pounds, and his brothers were 11 and 12 pounds. And my Aunt was (and still is) a tiny tiny woman. I can't even imagine how uncomfortable she must have been.

Posts: 336 (07/02/09 4:19 PM) Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	my son was fairly big - 10 lb. 9 oz. i've always wondered, though, if the diabeetus had anything to do with that. i was at the ob/gyn's office every month, though, throughout the pregnancy, so they would've picked up on it, right? he went into fetal distress, and they did an emergency c-section; knocked me out completely, since i'd been trying to go the lamaze all-natural route, and they had to get him out fast. he was in the neonatal icu for the first 24 hours, just for observation, and my husband said it looked like they shoe-horned him into the incubator. the only other baby in the icu was a tiny little preemie that was born earlier that day...quite the contrast.

Posts: 33053 (07/02/09 5:10 PM) Sexy asshole Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	yeah, they should have caught it. it was a long time ago, but as i recall they did a routine blood test, and when my sugar was high, i had to do a fasting test at the hospital. after that, i was issued a glucose testing kit, and had to have absolutely NO sugar in any form until the baby was born. that's difficult, but entirely doable. the good part was i learned a lot (at the time) about hidden sugars in foods by reading labels.

I guess it was all that mexican food I ate while I was pregnant with him...could not get enough of the burritos!

His head was so big, they had to a Caesarian. When he was about a year old or so, I was babysitting and I threw my back out trying to put him in a grocery cart. Damn fat babies. Damn them to HELL!
