Conventional Wisdom: Ulong should have voted off either Ashley or Kim.
Rebuttal: We all know what an epic failure the Ulong tribe was, and we've all speculated on what, if anything, the tribe could have done differently to succeed. Invariably, someone suggests that they should kept Jolanda, and while that may be true, it's a hindsight argument. Sure, Ashley turned out to be a quitter, and Kim turned out to be a lazy cumguzzler, but neither girl revealed her true colors until much later. Even though we know now that there were better options available, the tribe as a whole didn't, and with the information available at the time, the choices were Angie and Jolanda.
And overall, Jolanda was the better choice. First, Jolanda was a major hindrance in the first tribal immunity challenge, badgering the team into adopting a horrible strategy and placing them even farther behind. Maybe her outburst wouldn't have mattered, given how far ahead Koror was at that point, but it sure didn't help matters, and if it happened once, it could happen again. Plus, Jolanda continued her bossiness back at camp. We know now that Ulong needed some kind of leadership, but again, that's with the benefit of hindsight; at the time her behavior seemed obnoxious and divisive. She may have been strong, but Ulong tribe, on paper at least, seemed have fitter, stronger people, so Ulong thinking they could win challenges without Jolanda didn't seem that unreasonable.
Bottom Line: Ulong was unquestionably the suckiest tribe ever, but a lot of their suckitude came from just plain old bad luck, not necessarily from strategic stupidity.
