"I don't like when the designers tear into each other's work like Merlin just did. "
I agree. If just for that and his ugly long red skirt, I'm not sorry to see him go. **Edited to show which post I was agreeing with. Honestly, I'd have had to send home James Paul for that dress, if faced with him or Merlin. But I am not sorry to see Merlin go, either way. Should have been Daniela, though.

I'm shocked....totally....his design was far from the worse.
They needed to have 2 women in final 5...that's why they kept Daniella |

I thought Johnny's was downright stupid.

Except for the colour they finally got the design right.
Johnn's dress reminded me of..... ...from Cirque du Soleil.

Now they aren't even going to the trouble of using the same colors.
Tonight's boot certainly explains Merlin's final collection. Hell, why not go wild, you are not going to win anyway. |

Oh I like the polka dots better --- but all those little cups are gonna catch falling leaves, acorns, snow and rain . . . . it will look like a gutter in there

The model couldn't even walk down the stairs in it. She had to tilt sideways to move.
What Bravo, can't afford the belt? Fug. |

The skirt looks like you're wearing a closed umbrella upside down. |

The Bravo version is ugly...the sash isn't there, which helped to cover up where the "cups" of the skirt were formed. And the polka dot print is
hideous.
Sigvold, I always read your posts and agree with almost everything you write. Tonight, we are on opposite sides of the fence. I HATE the polka dots, and I thought Johnny's dress was adorable. |

What the hell??? Merlin was ROBBED!!!
I actually liked Reco & Merlin's outfits the best and would actually wear them. Rico's pantsuit was sexy and stylish. While Merlin's travel/casual wear was stylish, functional, colorful and looked really comfortable. When I travel to Europe and am on a plane for 8+ hours, I like to wear a stylish sweat suit type outfit. Something that looks good and is comfy especially on an overnight to morning flight. Daniella's outfit was hideous and old fashioned. I had sheer blouses like that in the late '80s. Hideous and cheap looking. Johnny's outfit was cute, but it was like a Simplicity pattern and I could have made that in high school home ec. I love James-Paul,but he really has had too many misses. When he is on, he is fantastic, but more often than not his designs are just awful. The bustle wasn't that bad, but the flaccid penis shoulders were hideous!!! Reco should have won and Merlin come in second this week. |

Well BobbyBestBabs -- I think Johnny's was the least creative of the three
I did not like Johnny's choice of doublemint gum wrapper green The over the shoulder sash of white silk jersey was a tired look back when people wore togas That blue ribbon in front is a cute RobertBest-style addition one might see on a Barbie from the 50's, so I can entirely understand why you liked it. But the framed skirt thingie is a totally non-functional piece of fluff. I don't think it is very creative. And it's not practical -- it is gonna get caught in everything you walk by, like door handles. Mostly, the top half doesn't match the bottom half. He should have stuck to roman toga or done a barbie springtime jumper skirt in lovely pastels, but not both. I love James - Paul to pieces too and I wish he was more successful in constructing his vision. I think a bustle would work nowadays if done well -- I don't think he used the right material tho -- it didn't drape well. He was going for a "bustles on the shoulders to match the bustle on the bootie" look. He could pull it off if he had more time. Reco is good at construction but provincial in design. He does either high drag or JC Penny eveningwear. Merlin too is not literate in cutting edge fashion trends. But both Reco and Merlin have imaginations which, especially in Merlin's case, run wild. Given both of their sewing skills, they are both good at creating their visions (although I was disappointed in Reco's top blouse). The problem is they have no overall direction -- instead they jump from one whim to the next. Both will do whatever it is they are feeling at the moment. Daniella and Anna are the final two and I prefer Anna's designs over Daniella's (tho Anna can't dress herself if her life depended on it!). |

Sigvold wrote: I have to agree with what you said, even though I still like Johnny's dress. It WAS very Robert Best Barbie style, which is why a poster named RobertBestBarbie would love it. And I liked the green color, it did feel young to me. The floral cage overskirt, if it had been part of the structure of the skirt itself rather than an overlay, would have been great and would have alleviated the problem of practicality. But Johnny's come a long way from the week when his dress was safety pinned together, so maybe I am cutting him some slack for that. Anyway, he isn't sinning this thing...his final collection is crap. Anna's winning it. ETA: Anna not only can't dress herslef, she can't seem to fix her hair, either. I always want to grab a brush when I see her on my screen.

I liked Anna's dress and would actually buy it for a summer party. The Bravo version is crap. I could be wrong, but it looks to me like the
"cups" are actually closed with a two-tone medallion. That makes me think clown costume, not flirty like the original.
I forget--does the success of the item for sale factor into who ultimately wins the competition? I'd be curious to know how they rank relative to each other in terms of sales. |

Did Anna win an advantage cuz she won the Harper's mini-challenge? I can't remember what her advantage was, or wasn't.
