I thought it was reported that MJ never "formally adopted" the children and that could be a point of dispute. And that Debbie Rowe never said
that she didn't want the children back. Whiplash from all of it. |

Something to the effect of "put a match near Michael and watch him go up, then out like a candle in the wind"?

right, he never adopted the kids, which he'd need to do if they're not his biologically, even if he's on the birth certificates? for custody
reasons? and they don't look like the rest of the jackson family, so....i don't think they're his.
if debbie is the bio mom, or the real bio mom or dad comes forward, then they can hold the kids for ransom. i just assume someone with a bio claim to the kids is going to come forward. i don't know who is in charge of making decisions on how money in the family trust is spent. if michael left the money to the trust, not the kids, maybe the kids aren't valuable? that would suck for them. |

I'd like Jermaine to explain that song he wrote a while back with the lyric "When you got made, you changed your shade." If his skin turned
white by itself, don't you think a member of his own family would have known that?

in the state of california, if your name is on the birth certif as the parent and nothing changes in the next two years, you are presumed by law to be the
parent regardless of biological parentage. that would go for debbie, too. even if she signed away her rights.

ohboy wrote:In most states, including California I believe, there are laws that provide a child born during a marriage is presumed to be the husband's, and parentage of that child can be challenged only for a short period of time, one or two years. This would be why he married Rowe, I presume, rather than just hiring her as a surrogate. The trust would pay the children's expenses, including that fabulous house with servants to which the guardian insists they are entitled, and the "educational" trips, etc., so yeah, they're still valuable. |

ohboy wrote: Husbands are the presumed fathers of children born of their wives. So he's the presumed father and he didn't adopt them because he didn't fear any third party making a claim (other guy saying he was the father). He's on the birth certificate and there has never been any claim that he isn't the kids' legal father. A father popping up now will have a hard time making a claim. I would argue abandonment of rights probably. Trusts are a good idea actually and it can be set up so that the money is held in trust for the kids. eta: heh - or what salome said. |

I love all the people who insists she should be granted custody of her kids after selling down the fucking river.

Diana Ross as the alternate guardian--woo boy. Someone I know used to work concert promotion in Chicago and tells the story of how he helped do the set-up for
one of her concerts where she insisted that no one was allowed to look at her when she was doing her sound check. All the stage hands had to walk with their
heads down, or backwards, etc. She yelled at him because she thought he was peeking at her when he was trying to set her mic. Those poor children won't
be catching a break anywhere in this mess.
