Hey, what did I ever do to you? That was an excellent quote. And it wasn't in response to Reco or Angel, but in response to the numerous commenters who think that some genres, i.e. Hip Hop, are beneath them. Ignorance is usually bliss, but in fashion it is not. I was disappointed that Reco had no knowledge of Halston, but in that case he should've heeded the advice he received. His mistake was hubris. Whereas Angel claimed to know nothing about Hip Hop, that has been in existence for more then 20 years, and has definitively influenced fashion as much as Punk Rock did in the late 70's/early 80's. I find the second offense less forgivable because not knowing one designer is just not on par with missing out on an entire pop cultural movement/trend. It would be like not knowing Seattle Grunge, that has come and gone while Hip Hop has grown more pervasive. Add to that the irony that Angel's personal look was more Hip Hop inspired than the look she created and then you get instant FAIL. When I quoted The Devil Wears Prada I did so with the intent of showing several posters that even though they find Hip Hop culture irrelevant, due to their own personal taste, it still affects their lives whether they like it or not because they are ultimately not the tastemakers.
