You're under the assumption that there are Renaissance men here when, in fact, it's more like dirty water dogs, cheap beer and a Cubs game adventure to
be had.

Oh yeah, Cubs are in town.

Does Wrigley have a fireworks night or do they set them off during the day?

Yeah, every suburb has one on the 4th. I always figured it was on the third so we'd have a holiday to sober up. Btw, a million people will be in Grant Park
on the 3rd. The fireworks are set to music, but you need a boom box to hear it over the radio unless you are actually in the band shell. It's usually the
Army band and when they do the 1812 Overture, there's a howitzer.
The old Comiskey had the exploding scoreboard. The Cell just ain't the same. t.ears Bill Veeck's original exploding scoreboard--
I can hear when the Sox hit a homerun from my apartment. ETA: oh yeah, if you have short people to entertain there's a big Harry Potter exhibit at the Museum of Science and Industry and there are pirates at the Field Museum argh.

Come on out to the Eyes to the Skies Festival in my home suburb of Lisle. Or try Ribfest in Naperville. I might go to the Taste on Friday. Not sure. I'm
going to the Cubs' Sunday game against the Brewers(and Thursday's game too).

here's one thing you shouldn't do when visiting chicago: go to the suburbs

Sadly, that's where I'll be going. But I assume we'll be going into the city for entertainment.

If you just drive down Lake Shore Drive south you don't really go through the ghetto.

Best 4th of July ever. You get to see what a million people looks like up close.

also msi is like 5500 south isn't it? even if you don't take lake shore drive you have to deal with like two minutes of less-than-optimal neighborhoods
before you end up in hyde park. also, it's not like someone is going to jump you for your car no matter where you are. plus you can just take the bus ~

luv luv luv the new home for the U505
msi also has the best IMAX system, they use the inside of one of the domes so the screen literally fills your peripheral vision, it's like being in the screen! |
