I don't get why Mama Mia was such a big hit. The film which it was based on Buona Sera, Mrs. Campbell was sophmoric even by 60's standard. It was only
enjoyable because Gina Lollobrigida was a smoking hot milf prancing around in mini skirts .

Carboys Desire wrote:have you ever actually sat down and watched a Pixar movie? The first four minutes of "Up" deals with death and the rest of the movie is about dealing with it, "Ratatouille" was a foil for homosexuality, "The Incredibles" was about a mid life crisis. The only thing that makes Pixar movies aimed at kids is the Disney-controlled marketing behind it. If anything, Pixar movies are a billion times more sincere and artistic than any indulgently cast oscar bait flick the big studios crank out. the real trash that's aimed at kids are the shit cranked out by all the other studios like Dreamworks or Sony. and to the idiot who thinks Pixar rips off Ghibli movies, both studios make movies that could not be any more different from each other, for one thing Ghibli's an expert at creating strong female characters, something Pixar severely lacks and have made little to no effort in improving over.

But I like acting. By real actors. It's not so much the subject matter as it is the animation itself, no matter how good it looks.

I finally watched Revolutionary Road today, on DVD.
Very well acted. Very well indeed. But why didn't anyone warn me that Kate Winslet's character... I had no idea. |

It is beautifully acted. I also did not know it was set in the
50s. Or if I did I forgot. |

This is the trailer for Harmony Korines latest film Trash Humpers . It will be interesting to see if the expansion of BP to 10 nominees means an almost Narrativeless Art House film with a distinct lo fi visual style has any real shot at a nomination. |

No, the expansion of BP to 10 nominees means that "crowd pleasers" like Twilight and Star Trek will get nominations. Okay... maybe not Twilight.
