Richard was such an asshole, he's impossible not to like. What do you do when you're emasculated daily by your super rich boss/father-in-law? Well, you have rough sex with his wife all the damn time, obvi. It sounds horrible but I kind of "got it", because Richard had to let Wellington win at skeet shooting and Wellington constantly talked about inferior Richard was and how he knew nothing about business. Poor Rich
He may or may not have tried to kill Trish so that he could save her and she would keep his secret. It's kind of unclear but I'm hoping it's resolved at some point.
He redeems himself a little in his last scenes, declaring that he doesn't want money, just shared custody of his daughter Madison. Aw. Watch him die here.
