Time for the fifth update. This post is a lengthy one, and you'll see why at the end of it.
#12 Played by: beatles20147 9th place in the game Really? The guy who rhymed in every single post in the forums, with the exception of the jury house? Why is he out this early? Let's make one thing clear: I loved Joe's rhymes. I thought it was a very great schtick, and even better that he didn't do it too much in PMs. A lot of players were afraid of that. Joe was on Jalapao and sat pretty for a very long time. In fact, I'll bet that if there was one name that was never brought up to be voted out before the merge, it was Joe. Everyone liked him. He was smart, funny, and non-threatening. Strategically, he was JT's right-hand man and also was allies with Sydney and Taj and perhaps a couple others. There was never a reason to target Joe while he remained on Jalapao. The tribes merged, and Joe was in the majority with seven members to Timbira's three. Things were looking very good for Joe, and he entered the final nine with all seven members of Jalapao intact. What happened next was something four very crafty players in the game couldn't foresee. There was a mutiny on the horizon, and they didn't see it coming. It was like Marquesas all over again - the five outsiders in the tribe came together. It was the two leftover Timbira members, the two outsiders of Jalapao, and Brendan who had mutinied into Jalapao at the beginning of the third round of the game. Without letting the plan leak at all, this ragtag group of underdogs came together and made their first (and only) strike at the least threatening person in the opposition - Joe. How he survived while not being quite as active as the rest of Jalapao, they didn't know. He was the obvious target for them, however. None of them had a very strong connection to him, and so no one really opposed him leaving first. It was one of the biggest, if not THE biggest, blindside I had ever seen in an ORG. Joe, as well as his three allies, had not seen it coming. But Joe took it in stride. While the new alliance of five posted poems at Tribal Council out of respect (and cockiness, for one person) Joe posted final words that summed up his surprise and respect for what had happened. It was all cool with Joe. He joined the jury immediately, and while he may have not expected it, he knew it was all just a game. Beatles20147 was one of the "outside shots" in casting for Tocantins. I hadn't seen him play in any games, though I knew he did before my time. As one of the most respected posters on Sucks, I felt like he could be a great addition to the cast. His only drawback was not being online as much as others, which says quite a bit as many cast members were extremely active. Beatles made the best possible use out of his night hours to log in, but when five people had turned against his alliance, he made for an easy first target. And what kind of post would this be without Joe's amazing Final Tribal Council poem? Enjoy. First off let me say hello Seeing you in the final two makes me aglow But now that I'm here, I want some info I believe I have a right to know This game went up and down like a yo-yo It's never black and white like an Oreo It's rocky and bumpy, not a smooth plateau Remember before the merge, how it looked like it'd go? Jalapao kept the black tribe down like we were Jim Crow Alas, I got cocky and had to eat crow I tried to sneak my way to the end without lying too low But I was kicked out into the (metaphorical) snow! Rode to the jury house on a ski tow Me getting the boot was a major blow Rhyming in the game was given the heave-ho But that happened long ago And it was too awesome to turn me into a foe Of course, neither of you were behind that, yo So don't worry, I won't kill you like the PLO! Over the course of our little game show People were lying like Pinocchio Lines more inventive than Jacques Cousteau! As we say in Texas, it was one heck of a rodeo But I wouldn't change a thing, no, no, no As I watched everybody's strategy grow I enjoyed it from head to toe Congrats on a great game! Now then: so... JT, you were always my bro But was our F2 deal real or just for show? Taj, you played it hard, that's fo sho What was your best/most subtle move is what I want to know? PS: One more question for you both before I go I'm from Texas, do you remember the Alamo? |

Joe was so ^_^
<3 <3 <3 If there was a token sweetheart that season, it'd be Joe. <3 I don't think Joe/myself/JT/Sydney were able to see that blindside coming at all. I knew once the 3rd Joe vote was read though that he was leaving. I got a kick out of pretending I WASN'T blindsided and that I knew he was leaving to Stephen/Erinn/Tyson/Sandy, though. Sandy especially was like *GASP* HOW DID YOU KNOW?! |

Joe! <3
That was a pretty awesome blindside. I'm sure everyone was disappointed when that group of underdogs didn't last. I always thought they made a mistake taking Joe out, since he was the least threatening of the Pao Cool Kids, and I missed his poems so much after he left. |

Oh no!
Not Joe! I still don't get why I was never brought up pre-merge (since besides Carolina I was probably the least active on Jalapao) and in a sense I wish I had been because that's what made me so sure I had nothing to worry about. And why it was me over JT or Taj I'll never know and I think four of the five probably regret that (besides Brendan of course). But it was still probably the most brilliant and humbling moment ever in an ORG for me. Even at #12, I'd better still make the cut for All-Stars. :P |

Jeff P3 wrote:Hmmm...why was it Joe? Well...I had a thing going with Taj. And I had a thing going with JT. Sydney was immune. That was my reason. I dunno what everyone else's was. "Oh he's such a dangerous player, he don't even need to be here and he's sitting in the best position out of everyone!" (I mean it was all true of course, but targeting someone cuz they weren't as active as the rest of the over-active cast? Esepecially pre-merge? C'mon now. =P) I totally wish I made the effort to get to know Joe better. That group thread Spencer made for me, Joe and Stevie because we were all "deemed awesome and too cool for school" = |

The only other name seriously thrown around was JT and I wouldn't have that. I needed as many life lines as I could get.
Lawl, Alffie I suggested Taj every round but no one seemed interested in that. |

Gee, I wonder who wrote the goodbye poem out of cockiness.

Sure it made 'em wanna blindside Joe around 7-8 but hey, not sure if they would've actually gone with that, since I could've made some damage with Erinn afterwards. We were gonna go to two of Brendan/Sandy/Stephen/Erinn to make it happen. Brendan for sure 'cuz of our deal...I dunno about the other. |

We had ideas for the F4 at final 14 and we loved laughing about it. Oh man, I forgot about that! I'd like to think that part of the reasoning behind my boot was my domination at the first individual challenge; the one that required no skill whatsoever. Gee, I wonder who wrote the goodbye poem out of cockiness. That was by far the best part about seeing your ass get voted out right after me. :P BTW, the response to Joe ranking at #12 = proof that he should rank so much higher. |

^Lolol, you mean the one that was mostly luck and half the people wanted to get blown up anyway?
Coming up with the collective Joe poems <333 Most hilarious part of the game. I'm so glad it wasn't taken the wrong way. Oh and wasn't Taj supposed to give Syd immunity at F8? |

spnintendo wrote:As long as Tyson didn't win immunity it really didn't matter. I don't understand why I went from being targeted by the Timbiras at the f10, but then it was Joe at the f9, and then back to me at the f8. That was my favorite thing about Joe, we bonded over the Timbiracunts being so jealous of us <33 |

Er...long story short, you won immunity at F9. o.o

Except, no. According to everyone except for you, Joe was always the target at the f9 and it wasn't going to be me unless he won immunity.

I'm pretty sure Tyson and Erinn still wanted it to be you. Don't really remember what Stevie or Sandy wanted.
I think it was just wanting to keep the gender balance. |

At F10, a little before the IC, the pieces were starting to fall into place for the blindside at F9. Sandy/Stephen made it very clear that they weren't going to vote with us at F10, but would most certainly do it the next round (doesn't exactly make you want to trust them, but that is what they said). I think we wanted Joe out because he would be the biggest "shocker" to everyone if he was blindsided. So at F10, Erinn and I voted for Sydney so that the Pao 4 would not see Joe's boot coming the next round. I think it was always Joe first, Sydney second for me, and after she won immunity at F9, it was DEFINITELY her next at F8. But unfortunately the human ping-pong ball Brendan decided against that. |

That makes more sense.
lol @ Brendan having no idea what he's talking about. :P |
