Okay, so I know the whole BBUS vs BBUK comparisons get tiresome, so I won't belabor this. BUT what's going on with the majority clique right now is exactly why I like the BBUS's change up where the rules are concerned. Even when the outsiders seem hopelessly outnumbered, it's possible to stop their momentum thanks to an HOH win (see Janelle vs Nerdherd, circa BBUS6 for the classic example).

I find the UK version gets really stagnant at times not only due to the lack of HOH (and thus the possibility for revolution), but also the fact that they can't discuss nominations. I mean obviously the majority/herd are going to vote the same. Like someone said, all it takes is their leaders saying, "so and so is really annoying..." and the herd knows who to nominate. But the outsiders never get a chance to sway them through strategy because BB prohibits such talk. And we know that if someone's got the social and strategic ability to work people, amazing things can happen (see Dr. Will, circa BBUS2 for the classic example).

Sure, when BBUK first started, it was more of a social experiment. But after all of these seasons, it's just not realistic to think that people are going to "be themselves and see what happens." These assholes have a gameplan. Why not admit it, accept it, and adapt?

I like that the US is more Darwinian thanks to the competitions and for the most part protects individuals from the tyranny of the majority. Or perhaps I'm just feeling patriotic with Independence Day coming up.

That being said, I do prefer the BBUK character of "Big Brother," their house, the shopping budget, and all of the fun tasks they get. (Geez, CBS. It's not like renting a few hippy costumes or making people draw on their faces with marker would break your budget or anything.)

Guess it's too much to ask for the best of both worlds....
