But to the average television viewer watching this, who doesn't come to message boards like this (if there actually is anyone like that watching this show) it would be a surprise to a lot of them when that nice, handsome man who is the Groom and seemingly Abby's best friend turns out to be the killer.
Actually, Henry being the killer would even be worse because that would be a very predictable, linear and boring story without any twists.
I think there are lots of twists in this thing thus far, no matter who is revealed as the murderer. I was certainly open to Wakefield not being the original killer, or least having had a accomplice who was not caught. I certainly didn't think we'd see him live killing at least the Sheriff and probably Maggie as well.
The "journey" in this story is what it is best to enjoy.
Whatever the solution is, it probably isn't as complex as we would like, or will disappoint many people. It's probably one of the old standby endings for serial killer murder mysteries. I'd just like the loose ends wrapped up, but that's me.
I'd love the writers to surprise us all. The endings to Agatha Christie's biggest novels often took the reader by surprise -- "And Then There Were None", "The Murder of Roger Ackroyd", "Crooked House", "Murder on the Orient Express", all took me by surprise and that's part of how she became so popular. However, as this is television, conventionality is the usual rule of thumb.
