You're going to end up with a lot of water if you just open the doors. At the very least see if you can get the freezer floor off so you can sop up all the water If only someone would invent some round plastic drum-shaped thingy you could put under it. |

I lose patience with that defrost thingy too, so I sit a pan of hot water in there and slide it around til it cools and then refill and repeat. My freezer
froze up because the drain thingy was plugged.
In the new house I've splurged for a heeeuuuuge fridge. 48 inches wide. No more tilting pizzas sideways to fit them in. It's a built-in, so it will look like cabinetry. |

Attack the ice with a blow dryer. It's oddly satisfying in a scab-picking kind of way.

Mine was a perfectly clear ice & I enjoyed the prying. The risk that with each application of pressure the fridge would become permanently inoperable.
Yea.. that's my idea of living on the edge. |

Make sure you get 100 lbs of ice in each delivery so you don't run out

My yard is about 8' X 15' with plenty of rain. Until a month ago I used a power mower. It was harder to get the mower out than cut the grass. The
danger was equal parts cutting my toes off or running over the Tesumseh hating poodle - bark, bark, lunge/snap, QUIET!... bark, bark, lunge/snap...
SHUTHEFUCKUP...

Just to follow up... It appears to have worked. I told my husband what Ned said and we did it an plugged it back in last night. This morning the fridge was at
forty two set at medium.
In the meantime I had picked out the ge profile pgss5pjx ss as my replacement.
My first attempt at an image since the iPhone upgrade with copy and paste availability!! |

ha!! It's the same one smrtass picked. Turns out it only has water on the outside and not ice. So that would be ok.
