HLN had another segment today of Kate's brother and sister in law in an interview from ROL, saying Kate came to Jon 6 mos ago with a "written
contract" in hand for him to sign saying, he could see other people, if he would just be discreet and keep the TLC gravy train going.

Oh please. It's got to be that they're officially separating.
They're trying to drag this pony show out for as long as possible! The site with the spleef photo also had a photo of his alleged "dealer" who visited him earlier in the day with her huge pot filled purse. |

Companies may want to reconsider any offers of freebies to the show. Just look at these comments on the Crooked Houses blog.

I really think the pic of Jon smoking a joint needs to be on all the magazine covers just like the pics of Kate swatting Leah or the pics of Kate in her
bikini.

At this point I'm completely confused about who should end up with these poor kids, their incredibly self-involved, heartless bitch of a mother or their
slacker father. If the gossip is true, and Jon's looking for apartments in NYC, then he obviously isn't expecting to have the kids with him on any kind
of normal basis. I just hope the nannies are nice and loving to the kids and stick around for awhile.
As for what the kids know/realize about what's going on, kids always pick up on the undercurrents around them. I've always thought it's because
children rely so totally on the adults around them for all their most basic needs, they stay very attuned to tensions and moods and such. These kids have been
exhibiting major separation anxieties and other insecurities for the last year, so yeah, they knew that something was going on, and it's been worrying
them. It's usually best to explain crises situations to kids in terms they can understand, rather than let them imagine all sorts of vague and frightening
scenarios for themselves. Of course, that would take some actual sensitivity and selflessness on the part of the parents, and we are talking about Mr. and Mrs.
Uber Doofus here. |

I am getting so completely sick of the pearl clutchers and GWOP nuts calling these kids abused, or their parents abusers.
Get a fucking grip. I have two friends working for CPS in two different states. The stories they tell me are beyond sickening, but there are NO resources, NO place to put the truly abused kids, and the saying "3 chances to kill your kid" is well known in CPS circles. One crack whore mother sliced her baby with a razor blade in a tartan pattern, ever inch of his baby skin was cut. They gave him back to her in a few months. Obvious signs of penile penetration and vaginal damage, as well as VD in a 3 and 5 year old sister--drunk on his ass "dad" got the kids back in a few hours. Beatings, starvation (intentional or circumstantial), group homes getting 4 year olds who automatically try to give a blow job to a social worker--because that's all they know. There aren't enough foster parents, and there are massive problems with some of those people too. Shelter care has been eliminated in many states--budget cuts. There is no real help available for kids who actually ARE abused, and I wish these nutters would do something to help actual kids in need, and stop pretending to worry about 8 well fed, well dressed, well mannered, seemingly happy kids with not only parents but nannies and trips to Disneyland. So their little lives aren't "perfect?" Who the hell's is? People that are so worried about children being abused (yeah right, sure they are) should go volunteer for a few days, find out what actual abuse looks like and get a damn grip. |

I don't agree with spanking and I think the kids are being exploited (and should be paid for their work and have controlled hours that they're on
camera), but they're not being abused. They're living a far better life than many kids. They have two parents that love them that are able to spend
time with them, the kids are well fed and well dressed and they have a variety of varied experiences.

Agreed.
The GWOPer's piss me off because it means I have to defend Kate. Jon & Kate are both going through extremely selfish periods right now, which has unfortunately come at the expense of their marriage. And yeah, both of them could stand to take a child rearing course or two. But they fucking LOVE those kids. |

I don't even know if I agree that the kids are being "exploited."
Without the TV cameras around to pay the bills and provide all that great food, yard to play in, nannies and maid service and all the rest, not to mention allow stay at home parents (well, parent now) where would they have been? Just paying day care costs would have left that family with very little cash, even if their father hadn't been fired from his job. Kate would be working long hours as a nurse, Jon finding whatever employer would hire him with his bad record. By the time mom and dad got home from work, most of the kids would have been asleep--and whatever interaction they had with their parents would have been pretty limited and tainted with exhaustion. It's hard enough for working parents to find time to pay attention to a couple of kids, get the laundry done, food on the table, but with EIGHT KIDS? Maybe they could have afforded their own place, but probably not if Jon couldn't find a decent job. Poor Jon couldn't have been "just Jon" then either--relegated to Mr Mom probably, and resenting the hell out of his life, with no diamond earings, sportscars, motorcycles, or other goodies to amuse him, let alone nannies. He whined that he had been changing other people's diapers for too long? Yeah, well he would have been buried in them without all of the help they ended up with because of this show. He would have split sooner than this if the show hadn't been giving them all of these goodies. As for "organic food?" My ass, maybe sometimes, but frankly, I doubt they could have afforded it--or the paper plates. When Jon wasn't up to his ass in diapers, he would have been cooking, doing dishes, and losing his mind. (yes, I am assuming that Kate, the only actual adult in that house, would have been the one actually bringing home a paycheck...) So are the kids so much worse off with this arrangement? Both parents with them? Help? Perks? Great place to live, good food? Would they have been better off without the help, and with only Jon (for as long as he lasted--my guess, not long) and Kate taking care of them and themselves and bills all alone? Maybe. Maybe not. 8 kids under 5 is a load, and comparing "regular families who do it all the time" doesn't really work because 6 babies is not "normal." |

When you find out you're having sextuplets (or octuplets) and before even giving birth you've started planning on how to publicly pimp them out for $$
is, I believe, intended exploitation. Am I wrong here?

The kids aren't being paid and they're working. That's exploitative period. The eight kids should all have a manager and be paid per episode just
like their parents are. I don't have a problem with the show, just that the kids aren't being paid and that they're filming so many episodes a
year.
