If you've never ever seen anything before in your life - how do you tell a blind person that other "normal" people can see what is around them - and explain what "see" even means. For example, Hellen Keller. How the hell did she ever understand that she was different? That people could see and hear her, but she couldn't? Obviously, she learned sign language, but how would it all be explained to her using sign language? She couldn't see that other people were talking, and she couldn't hear people talk about seeing. uggggggggh. This has been bothering me for a while. omg my brain hurts.

He didn't even realize this until he was in high school and burned popcorn in the microwave. His mom asked why he didn't know it was burning, because the smell was awful. He later said that he never understood why farts were so awful to other people growing up until he realized that it wasn't necessarily the sound that caused people to run - it was the smell he wasn't smelling. PPS: Do some people not have a sense of taste or touch? HUH????

Maybe Helen knew all along that she was different because the ability to communicate is something that is wired into us and she could not do it effectively? Helen Keller's interpretation of what sound and sight are may have been totally different than what they are in reality. I don't know how she was able to learn how to sign, but I think she probably had a very high IQ. Another weird thing is that you can start to lose a sense without even realizing it.
