From April Marie:Hey everyone, I went to the taping tonight so I'm here with some goodies. I'm working on the more detailed spoilers, but here are some bare bones to get you started. Some of the stuff was already reported by IDF, so I apologize if I repeat it.

General Stuff:
Cat's outfit was pretty much as described. I loved her dress, but it's kind of hard to explain. It was a one-shouldered dress with the ruffle over the shoulder kind of pouffy. It looks a lot better than I described. She was wearing some kick-a** red, glittery, strappy high heels.

Lil C was guest judge & Mia will be choreographing the group dance on Thurs. I usually really like Lil C, but his metaphors, descriptions, etc got really old tonight. He's taken his "thing" that a lot of people like, and turned it into a schtik. I'm a little over it to be honest.

In the audience: Besides those already mentioned, Marlee Maitland, Joshua

The question in the intro package was what is one of your partners secrets? (What is something about your partner that America doesn't know?)

As for the dances, the poster at IDF got the order pretty much correct. I thought that Maksim/Kayla & Vitolio/Asuka were switched, but I always tend to mix-up the order of dances in the middle.

I'm not very good at remembering the music, but I'm pretty sure the Jonathan/Karla contemporary was to "You Found Me". Jason/Caitlin's hip-hop was to a slowish-song, I think "Missin You" by Trey Songz. Brandon/Janette's disco was to a really fast disco song; I recognized the song, but I can't remember what it's called.

I was at the taping too. A couple of things to fill in. Jonathan and Karla's song was "Falling Slowly". I was actually really distracted by the song, mostly because I was annoyed that they didn't go with Kris Allen's (gorgeous) recorded version, or the one from the Once soundtrack. It still sounded like Glen Hansard, only flat and with more instrumentation. Maybe it was The Frames' version. I also didn't think the dance was as great as the judges did, but I also really liked Evan and Randi's jive, which was criticized (although I do agree his jive kicks weren't quite right). I'm pretty sure their song was "Shake Your Tailfeather". I didn't recognize any of the other songs.

Brandon and Janette were on fire with their disco. Janette stumbled at one point but totally covered well. And Brandon didn't even flinch when Janette accidentally whacked him the nose while they were dancing. There was one lift on par with and maybe surpassing the one by Ade and Melissa's last week, but overall they didn't do as many lifts as I thought they would. They did more dancing than tricks, which I appreciated after Doriana's trick-fest with Joshua and Chelsie last year. And after Jonathan's floor exercise routine in his bottom 3 solo last week. Brandon and Janette's dancing was terrific, especially considering how ridiculously fast the music was. The tempo was seriously insane.

Phillip's tango wasn't THAT bad, but it wasn't great. Mary gave him an A+ for attitude but C- for technique. Lil C went on about Phillip's bent knees and how bad it looked, then Mary jumped in to disagree because in THAT tango (American smooth?), you're supposed to bend your knees. Lil C kept arguing that you weren't, and I was all WTF, dude?! You're a KRUMP expert. Are you seriously arguing with a ballroom expert about ballroom rules/technique? Cat or Nigel threw it to Tony Meredith to settle the argument, and he confirmed that you are indeed supposed to in this dance. Lil C got pwned there. To his credit, he did say he stands corrected, but then he had to keep going by saying he still found it distracting or whatever. It will be interesting to see if any of that makes the broadcast.

Mary was in $%@** during Vitolio and Asuka's dance, but I think part of it stemmed from the intro video, where they talked about Vitolio being an orphan.

I'm glad Shane Sparks is back too, but I wonder if he will be return this season after this week. This cast is not so hot with the hip hop, with the exception of Phillip, obviously, and apparently Karla. The choreography for the Kupono/Ashley routine was really cool, but they didn't do it justice. Ashley hit it harder than Kupono, I thought. Judges didn't see any connection with Caitlin and Jason in their hip-hop.
